as part of the Software (and not independently of it), and only for the effective Term of the license granted to Fret-King Eclat Custom Paul Rose Signature review: A single-cut with a difference – and we’re not just talking about that dramatic forearm scoop Recording was as simple as pressing once and starting to play whenever we wanted. When we were done recording a loop, all we had to do was double-press the pedal. And it was simple enough to get rid of loops we didn’t want to keep. Just press and hold to erase. With 12 minutes of looping and stereo functionality, the RC-1 is a simple yet powerful looper. We jumped right in and started laying down layers and overdubbing. The LED indicator on the main display did a great job of keeping time with each loop, it had great visibility and it was easy to interpret. But what if you want more than simple with the same mini footprint? TC has managed tocram it in the same mini dimensions here, but is it trying todo too much to stay intuitive with just three controls and asmall screen?

The main difference between the RC-1 and the Ditto is the indicator ring on the RC-1. It might not seem like much, but it makes the looper so much easier to use. It was a pleasure to work with the Looperboard’s quad-core architecture. Combined with its unlimited record time, we were able to build entire song parts without ever wondering when we’d run out of time. While the RC-1 gives you basic looping functions, it should be clear how much of a step up there is when you jump to the RC-3. Undo: Imagine you’ve set up the perfect loop and you want to add a melody over the top of your loop. You hit record and mess up the timing of the melody. Loop ruined, right? Fortunately, all loop station pedals allow you to undo the last overdub. The first thing to point out is that the RC-3 was released in 2011, so it is nine years older than the RC-5. If you’re looking for a basic looper that won’t take up much space on your pedalboard, then the RC-1, RC-3, or RC-5 is probably all you need. But if you want to create multiple loops, complex layers, and use other advanced features like what you saw in the above video, one of the more feature-filled loop stations like the RC-30, RC-500, or RC-300 might suit you better. The basic idea is that you can play an entire verse-chorus style song from start to finish using this pedal to build your loops and play rhythm parts.

All of the settings for the pedal are controlled with the four buttons and the multifunction knob. It’s a great idea, but it does mean you need to learn how to find all of the settings you want to tweak. As for the looping functions - the simplicity is a huge selling point too. Some might think that it has too few features, but I give it five starts because the simplicity of the features is what attracted me to it. The Boss RC-20, whilst brilliant in it's ability to store what you've previously recorded, was simply more than I needed. No fault of Boss there. The Ditto just stores what you are currently looping. Disconnect the pedal and the loop is gone. I'm 100% fine with that. The only knob on the Ditto is to control the volume of the recorded loop - this is a very useful feature in my opinion as that really is the only parameter I want to have control of. Two separate footswitches allow you to play and stop or record and overdub, making it a great option for live players. Four different lights ensure you always know where you are and what’s happening with the loop, especially important when improvising on stage. There’s a lot more functionality under the hood too, but you’ll need to add an external footswitch to get the most out of this looper. With its unlimited overdubbing, we then engaged the reverse as well as the 1/2 time buttons and found ourselves in a sort of psychedelic experimental ground that brought out some unique ideas. Both pedals make use of one footswitch and one level knob. The Ditto Looper is mono while the RC-3 supports mono or stereo inputs and outputs. If you use stereo pedals or plan on using them in the future, this is a great feature to have. The Pigtronix Infinity 2 Looper comes with a respectable number of features for such a little pedal. We especially liked the simplicity and elegance of its design.
