About this deal

freedom, courtesy of Kei and how they refuse to conform to the gender binary. Where Yo struggles to there are nudes drawings, but it's not in a way that it felt like "porn". Hell, these scenes don't last more than they should at all. These scenes always somehow detonate an important plot point one way or another and serve to develop "Alice" as a character and how much she's struggling to find her identity. I used to fantasise about being a girl, but that's only an escape that ignores what it's like to be a woman. I mean, Oshimi already wrote a gender-bender once, Inside Mari, but this is different, and kind of tame compared to that series and his other series. But well, it's only starting, who am I to talk? This is gonna be painful like I haven't seen Oshimi in action for how many of his series now that I read?

Have you ever asked yourself what makes you attracted to someone? Is it because they have some genitals instead of others? or is it because of the way they act? Dysfunction Junction: Every main character has serious problems; gender and their sex drive are particular issues.honestly, when I looked at the author I can't say I was surprised when it said it was the same author has flowers of evil/aku no hana. he truly is a special kind of horny. (spoilers) confusion, resentment, and how all of that can continue to fuel our sexual desires. But there's also Nov 25 i☆Ris the Movie - Full Energy!! - Anime Film Teaser Visual Revealed at i☆Ris Live Stage in Anime NYC & i☆Ris First Performance in New York Successfully Completed

In his afterword, Shūzō Oshimi says that this series is about deconstructing masculine sexuality and sex drive. That's no doubt a worthy subject, but I'm not sold on the way it's being examined here. Kei, the more-or-less antagonist of the piece, left Tokyo as a boy and returned as “done being a boy,” which seems to equate more to nonbinary than transgender as portrayed in the story – Kei wears the girls' uniform and is feminine-presenting, but has no problem with using the boys' restroom at school, striding right up to the urinals while classmates watch. Again, this in and of itself isn't an issue, because gender can be expressed in a variety of ways. The issue is that Kei seems to be deliberately using his (their? the book uses masculine pronouns, so I will too) gender and sexuality to wreak havoc on his childhood friends, Yo and Yui. He's playing with them like the sexual equivalent of a cat toying with a mouse, and that is very uncomfortable to read. I really don't know what to say about this series. Without it being horror, it is somehow one of the most disturbing things I've ever read. It made me feel disgusted reading it. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. If you read it, keep in mind that it has the trope of transgender sexual harasser/predator, and a lot of sexually dubious content or downright sexual assault. Plus, the sexual content and plot is about teenagers. That is a no-go for me in media, but I am trying to ignore it for the sake of how it is as a series. I'm sure there is a lot of appeal to some people, but really, I don't know what else to say besides 'disturbing'. This isn't just a queer story. If you want sobby but fluffy queer, go sought out other titles from other authors somewhere, because this isn't gonna satisfy you. This is a psychological drama. This is Oshimi. And Kei has his "reasons" why he's that way today. And this is gonna hurt, like really bad. And yes, I'm entering the damnation bare and as a volunteer. The characters and themes are all obviously aspects and ideas surrounding the author's own complicated relationship with gender, masculinity, femininity, love, and lust. It's painfully obvious...and also beautiful and eye-opening. Gender identity is how a person feels internally, while their expression is how they present themselves to the outside world. For example, a person may identify as nonbinary but present as a woman to the outside world. So far, my feelings about "Okaeri Alice" are mixed. While I can't say I like how the manga begins, it eventually starts displaying some interesting ideas as it progresses. All Men Are Perverts: Yo certainly is, as was Kei in junior high; however, Yo is extremely afraid of expressing his sexuality, while Kei was possibly a bit too forward about it. Other minor male characters qualify, like Yo's friends and the upperclassman who harasses Kei at a convenience store. be for everyone, this is still a very masterful story—wherever these kids grow, it's going to be a trip. Because it just comes out as kei being a manipulative, sadistic, selfish heterophobe dude. Who only wants that man cooch. Also she doesn't even bother to question

In general terms, sex refers to a person’s physical characteristics at birth, and gender encompasses a person’s identities, expressions, and societal roles. Relationship Upgrade: Yo and Mitani start dating in chapter 11. It gets rather complicated after that.Cimi also said that Oshimi's Inside Mari, despite its unrealistic premise, had a stronger impact. [2] these character doesn't question their own action but rather question their own feeling. I do get why the protagonist approach things such surreal disturb way from witnessing a traumatic disgust sight of seeing his friend making out of his crush. Which cause him to have conflicting feeling toward the both of them. Having his feeling being held hostage from both of them. Overall it sound like a really good premise but how do they approach those conflicted feeling. Okaeri Alice is a mess of obnoxious pretention that doesn't have a single idea what it's trying to tell the audience. It is not a psychological deep-dive into the mind, it is a bowl with a bottom that stops your fork prematurely. The characters are built off of about three traits, like a family of Sims. They have no depth. A weirdo is a weirdo and a pervert is a pervert. They are nothing more than objects to move along the story... but they don't even feel like part of the story in the first place.
