About this deal

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Die Autorin hat ein sehr gutes Gefühl für die Kombination aus Bildern und Test und wenn man die Sprüche liest fühlt man mit und sieht den Frauen ihr Leid förmlich an. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. It’s a constant assessment and it’s tiring: all those little moments build up and people maybe don’t realize that, so that’s why they don’t intervene or say anything.

One of the most fun things about owning a Sharing Library (which is the un-trademarked name of the more ubiquitous Little Free Libraries) is finding treasures like these generously popped in by an anonymous donor. On her social media accounts, Nicole Tersigni fights toxic masculinity and gender discrimination with humor and irony, every day. It got that classical art memes feel to it, as the author chose a number of beautiful classic paintings to add some common sentences used by different types of men, online or IRL. It's a quick read and pointedly comical, featuring chapters titled: The Mansplainer, The Concern Troll, The Comedian, The Expert, and The Patronizer.Men to Avoid in Art and Life' pairs classical fine art with modern captions that epitomize the spirit of mansplaining. So then I would save them all in a big file and then see if I could find something funny in the painting or if there was a painting that could work for a joke that I wanted to make. I would have much preferred something written by Nicole Tersigni herself, perhaps something reflective about the process of revisiting her content and putting the book together. MEN TO AVOID IN ART AND LIFE is a comical art/coffee table book consisting of classical works of art that have been captioned to make fun of mansplainers. It’s both comforting and vindicating to know that listening to men being shitty isn’t new, that our foremothers didn’t necessarily put up with it lightly, and that we can and almost indeed owe it to them to proclaim misogyny unacceptable, whether boldly through direct political action or more subversively through humor like this.

Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). I like taking dark things and finding humor in them because we all experience terrible things, and we need to find ways to laugh about them. It’s huge that my little joke book created this wonderful conversation, and even if just those two people read it and connected, that’s enough. It's one of those books that you have on the living room, ready to be read by anyone and surely creates interesting conversations! To those who will get the joke and to those who won't (in the hope this will open their eyes even a little bit). Rather than get me excited to read, the tone and forced jokes actually made me want to put the book down.

So, my daughter was home from school and I was exhausted; I got on Twitter just to kinda scroll through and have a little brain escape and I saw this man explaining one of my friends’ jokes back to her. It is really interesting because the women are clearly disinterested in what the men are doing or saying to them in the paintings. For more details, please consult the latest information provided by Royal Mail's International Incident Bulletin. Bitingly funny, heartbreakingly relatable, Nicole's take on the painted weary gives new meaning to 'art criticism.I don’t know what the intention is behind that, but it was fun to take my experiences in the culture and world I live in and interpret what’s going on in a painting that has existed for so long. Women from all across the world will be able to relate to many of these statements - insideous, niggling, unsolicited moments which can be left to simmer inside us for years to come. I’m planning on loaning this book to my lovely friend Karin before popping it back into my Sharing Library for someone else to grab and chuckle over. Obviously, that was not the artist’s original intent, but what is so wonderful about art is that you look at it and put your own lived experiences into it and interpret it that way.
