I take a blood thinning drug and it has resulted in the skin on my arms becoming paper thin and liable to cuts or tears. This article examines the use of Mepitel One, a wound contact layer that promotes wound healing by using the clinical benefits of Safetac technology. It has a pre-printed symbol ( figure 2) which can facilitate safe removal when managing skin tears with fully or partially intact flap. Mepitel prevents the outer dressing from sticking to the wound and therefore minimises trauma and pain when changing dressings.

It can be used as a protective dressing over IV sites when the IV device is secured through adhesive tape or sutures. Mepitel is a gentle Wound Contact Layer with an open mesh design enabling good transfer of exudate to a secondary dressing. Mepitel used after facial resurfacing: avoid placing pressure upon the dressing, lift and reposition the dressing at least every second day.
