Lots of action in this one, some great story progression, and enough intrigue to make you want the fourth volume immediately. Even though this set up a brand-new arc, it didn’t mess around when it came to getting right into things. We’ve got a couple of new villains without a name but I’m sure we’ll learn more about them next time around. All we know is that the yakuza still hasn’t forgotten about Denji and that this is about to turn into Bungo Stray Dogs on an entirely different level! I am very happy that Chainsaw Man evolved! There is good character progress, change of motivations, explained why things are how they are and mystery reveals itself. Three volumes in and I’m hooked on this series! They haven’t let their foot off the gas and things continue to remain highly interesting. There were even some plot points that happened in this volume that I cannot believe that they pulled the trigger on… at least this early. It is a bit unconventional but sometimes, doing the unexpected can yield positive results and I believe that this is one of those times where it was needed. Denji was a small-time devil hunter just trying to survive a harsh world. After being killed on a job, Denji is revived by his pet devil-dog Pochita and becomes something new and dangerous—Chainsaw Man! The plot? Hmm, it seems pretty typical of this type of manga. There's demons everywhere, they have to fight them, there's a big bad demon that they need to work their way up to killing. The interactions between the characters are funny, in a highschool drama sort of way.

With Makima heading out of town on assignment, they all gather for some drinks. Himeno keeps her promise to kiss Denji; however, she won’t do it when she’s sober. I won’t spoil how it ends up but Denji will never forget it… that’s for sure! It is over the top horror action and a helping dose of comedy. Volume 3 wraps up the events involving the eternity demon at the end of the last volume. The blood and guts are constantly flowing and I had a number of moments were I literally laughed out loud. I also love Fujimoto's art.

Chainsaw Man finishes it's last arc with some insane killings as our main hero unleashes the beast once more. Volume 3 wraps up the subplot of the last volume where the main demon hunting crew gets trapped in a haunted hotel and the only way to escape is to offer up Denji as a sacrifice to the Eternity Demon. The solution to the battle of endurance ends with an interesting conclusion. A conclusion that might bring the crew closer together in strange ways only to invite future disaster into their lives. There is actually a gloomy atmosphere and the contrast, which is provided by Denji and Power breaks the gloom, well, almost perfectly. Tatsuki Fujimoto 藤本タツキ (Fujimoto Tatsuki) is a Japanese manga author, mostly known for Chainsaw Man. Josh (or J.J. as some have come to call him), is a long-time geek culture enthusiast with a deep passion for anime, manga and Japanese culture. I, honestly, cannot think of any huge developments for our characters. Himeno and Denji did; however, officially become friends. They formed an alliance where Himeno will help set up Denji with Makima if Denji promised to help set up Himeno with Aki. So, in a relationship form, there was some development there, even if it is minor. The fact that Himeno and Denji are friends is also another big step.
