About this deal

This hugely popular fishing trolley from MAP features an extending frame to give you extra space for storing your luggage, and other gear. Barrow: A wheelbarrow is a small hand-propelled vehicle, usually with just one wheel, designed to be pushed and guided by a single person using two handles at the rear. Seatbox: A fishing seatbox is often a box with lots of storage space, with a seat on top to sit on comfortably. Seatboxes can come basic or with things like drawers and footplates. It was interesting to compare standard anglers’ trolleys with the barrow type that started life in carp fishing but is now in common use with pleasure and match anglers. As you'll see when we look at the trolleys, the companies making them are very familiar. Some have used existing barrow technology but added a motor.

Reels fit into the slots on each “pipe.” This gives them some free movement of the bail, when needed, while seated in place. It keeps most rods from touching the ground. The slits for the reels are nicely rolled smoothly to avoid friction. Bear in mind that two wheeled trolleys should be able to fit through small openings or tight spaces around the lake whereas bulkier 4 wheeled versions may struggle! The one I chose is all plastic and made for boating by Jarvis Walker. It holds three rods, two knives and two pliers (or substitute other tools as needed.)

This short guide will explore some of the key factors you should consider when choosing a fishing trolley, so you can make sure you get the perfect one for your needs. Wheels Last but not least, consider how much money you want to spend on a new fishing trolley before making your decision.

If you're a chair angler, a speci or carp-style barrow will suit you far better. What kind of ground will you be pushing it over? Four wheels are unbeatable on firm, level ground, but ploughed fields and potholed river banks are best suited to a single-wheel barrow design. An inflatable tyre is smooth to push, but a nightmare if you get a puncture. Look for a solid wheel design, or try puncture-proofing your wheels with products designed for pushbikes. The best barrows and trolleys at a glance My final addition to the fishing trolley, at the time of writing, is to add an aluminum telescopic post so I can add an LED floodlight. Making it possible to see more easily the area around the trolley. Such as when I’m tying leaders, de-hooking fish etc. As a regular angler, I was always frustrated by how cumbersome it is to carry my seatbox down to the bank, so this trolley was an absolute godsend! I particularly liked that there is an additional bottom bar that rests on the ground when the trolley is in the upright loading position; this makes loading your gear onto the trolley incredibly simple without having to bend down too much. Towards the front of this trolley are looped arms, designed to firmly hold your seatbox in place, although you can use straps to further support everything if you want to.The instructions below for the flat-strap version of this trolley contains the correct details as far as drilling etc goes. Just substitute the upper two eye hooks and flat-straps for the steel square tube, nuts, bolts and wing-nuts. Once drilled, replace the removed pipe into its slots on the crossbars. Insert bolts and finger tighten. Repeat the whole process with the pipe on the other side, depending on whether you removed the left or right pipe. It is fully adjustable to fit both the OnBox and Space Station designs, and it can also be turned around to suit other seat boxes.

So here’s how we attach it firmly and securely so our cooler – and its contents – don’t fall off. Whether we’re pulling it up a pier or path – or while we’re fishing.

Fishing Trolleys To Carry All Your Gear

Well, no one is going to lose you on the bank if you have these fitted. The bright yellow tyres are chunky and puncture-proof. This is because they are constructed of solid rubber. This offers a nice mix of reliability, a bit of spring, and puncture resistance. The bore diameter is 16mm. Due to their solid construction, they aren’t the lightest tyres. Fishing Trolley Wheel Rubber Inner Tube by Masterpart Pneumatic wheels (inflatable) are quieter, depending on how much air you use. You can select a trolley with those if you wish. I didn’t at the time and as already stated added them myself, along with a second axle. Leaving the existing ones in place (handy when climbing steps as they actually function the same way as stair climbers – a happy accident.)
