About this deal

The other pressings that I know have a litle bit more reverb and here are soundpicture on the dry side and the listeners can come even closer to the music.

Expresso love" is still a great rocker though and the ballad "Hand in hand" is also a Dire straits favorite of mine. Objectively speaking, it's nothing revolutionary but it's a neat collection of songs that are somewhat different in tones and moods. Mark Knopfler's songwriting took a significant leap on "Making Movies" as if it were time to try more innovative techniques following two albums. After owning several early Canadian copies and one UK copy, this one has more dynamic and energy, with perfect tonal balance and extension on both end. Making Movies was later certified platinum in the United States and double-platinum in the United Kingdom by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) respectively.Three of the seven tracks from Making Movies continued to be played throughout the Love over Gold, Brothers in Arms and On Every Street tours: “Romeo and Juliet”, “Tunnel of Love” and “Solid Rock”, while “ Expresso Love” was played in all concert tours until 1986. Iovine had also worked on Springsteen's Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town albums, and he was instrumental in recruiting E-Street Band keyboardist Roy Bittan for the Making Movies sessions. The mofi version of this album makes you LOVE to just listen to the music, whereas the orig UKs are better to let it spin and rock out to because the detailed instrument separation isn't as accessible to listen to. Their music was becoming more complex and so was Mark Knopfler's songwriting: 4 of the album's 7 tracks are running over 5 minutes.

Having turned his back to superstardom after Dire Straits' _On every street_ album has done Knopfler's music a lot of good, and as he didn't have to play "Sultans of swing", "Money for nothing" and "Walk of life" anymore on his tour with Emmylou Harris it seems people are finally seeing him as a solo artist instead of that man from Dire straits.Tunnel of Love was a little closer for me comparing the two but still have the give the nod to this release. The romanticism of Bittan's piano, precision timekeeping of drummer Pick Withers, and steady roll of bassist John Illsley come across with similar potency, scale, and verve. Then the album takes a noticeable decline in quality, which is extremely noticeable but those songs still suffice.
