I can say that since I saw the first photos of the 42114 set, I already had an idea for an alternative model. Unfortunately, as usual, the idea had to wait to materialize.

Agree with yacoub's comment, they needed to create new 45 degree right angle triangular panels to avoid the gaps at both the tipper end and the vertical wall, the 30 degree triangular panels will never look right. if the property became relevant property in the same quarter that the charge arises then you count one quarter anyway (IHTA84/S68(3)). I wouldn't worry too much about getting the 42099 set. Price per piece is indeed not that great, but you need to factor design and capability. You get two XL motors for drive and one L motor for steering. So that's double the drive power compared to this set and a beefy steering motor too. If you switch some of the gear wheels the 42099 can become very good on and off road, but a bit slower. You also get the turntable which some may not like but I think it's a clever solution for extra articulation. Also, not offering B-models is so against the initial idea of Technic, and of Lego itself. Lego is supposed to be a toy that promotes creative play and by extension Technic is supposed to be a toy that get's slightly older kids into engineering vehicles and functions. But right now it looks more like a toy for rich business people, that are into the idea of cars and machines and just want to build one easily and put it into their display case. I'm considering buying the set eventually as the basis for a MOD/MOC, make it a manual or PF(non-RC) model and selling the C+ components to soften the pricetag.
