About this deal

Finally, to round out the external tools, the MUT features an incredibly robust pocket clip, which is not only fittingly aggressive and brash in terms of style but is also reinforced with a rubber spacer to allow some flexibility and prevent breakage. Leatherman MUT Multi-Tool is a great addition to your shooting kit with its bolt override tool, firearm disassembly punch, cleaning rod and brush adaptor, saw and sharp combo knife. Replaceable Pocket Clip: A removable clip which allows the user to wear their multi-tool attached to a pocket or belt loop without the use of a sheath.

The MUT comes in a large yellow paper tray with a white plastic insert, covered by the generic Leatherman instruction card, and all enclosed in the gray paper sleeve with the yellow Leatherman “L” on the top.If used for firearms maintenance, the fact the MUT has a knife blade in it is not really of any consequence as you have a gun with you. NOTE: All these parts will fit on the MUT EOD version (except the wire cutter inserts), with the disassembly punch threading onto the post intended for the C4 punch. Four or five baby wipes later and the MUT is looking slightly less black, but now isn’t shedding black onto your hands and everything it touches. As you rotate the handle open to deploy the pliers, the safety lock rides up the cam slope, pushing the metal arm sideways.

I bumped that up to cutting the steel head off of a wooden coat hanger, which snapped just as easily as the wire coat hanger. I was a little skeptical when I got it, thinking that all those tools and features designed for weapons and explosives would be useless to me. Things like the carbon scraper, C4 punch, military performance, spec cap crimper…the list goes on, sounding cooler and more nerdy each time. But so far, I have had to replace nothing and it has stood up better than any other tool or blade I have ever owned. However, when Leatherman introduced the MUT, their intentions were clear: this was going to be the military multitool, and it was even in the name.Age Verification Required: This product is not for sale to people under the age of 18 and will require an online age verification check.

The blade is made from 420HC Stainless Steel, an improved, high-carbon (HC) form of 420 stainless steel. On normal pants, the weight of the tool will actually drag the edge of your pocket down, which in addition to being uncomfortable is just unsightly. I can admire how cool the MUT is, but it’s not something that I would find more useful than a normal cleaning kit. There is a step in the cutter edges that allows the cutter to grip and hold tougher wires that might slip forwards and keep them as close to the pivot as possible (for the best leverage), making the cut much easier.

First of all, I am new at the post, in fact I am not a native English speaker so sorry for my mistakes. Before diving into all the detail, I wanted to have a look at a few more of the descriptions and specifications from Leatherman. Perfect for military or law enforcement use, this military multi-tool has 16 tools – all of which are strong and practical, just what you expect from Leatherman. You can, for instance, not only replace the wire cutters, but also a pocket clip or the carbon scraper. The pliers are still stiff and functional, which in years past, has been my greatest pet peeve of multi-tools from pretty much every manufacturer. Getting in really close to the threaded hole (actually in the pliers jaw) allowing the MUT to be used as a handle for certain cleaning rods.
