About this deal

Using Multimodal books that have pieces of writing for different purposes allows the child to pick up on transcriptional aspects subconsciously. The popular children’s book by Janet and Allan Ahlberg is brought to life in this imaginative learning resource.

I would also say that I think this book would be a great one for children who may have shown reluctance or perhaps even their dislike of reading. Additionally, we also have some great 'The Jolly Postman' activities and games so that you can make your lesson interactive. Encourage students to use their own letters to find examples of the various parts of letters as they are discussed.

Starting with a Christmas Card for Baby Bear that included a very funny joke from Goldilocks, whilst The Gingerbread Man received a book within a book - honestly this had everything. This book had quite a few humorous moments which I thought were a real hoot (the mini-story about the piggy bank with criminal tendencies being a classic).

My favourite part of the jolly postman books are the envelopes containing the letters, cards and games which he delivers which you can open and read making the book fun and interactive. Chris Riddell was the highly commended runner up and the Medal winner, 1999 and 2001, for illustrating two books in the Diary series by Richard Platt.I would give this book 5 stars, partly due to the fact I remember studying this book during my time in primary school and the enjoyment it gave. Geography: Maps- look at the postman’s journey and plot different ‘landmarks’ or houses onto a template of the map. The book follows a journey of a postman who delivers letters to characters from traditional fairy tales (who the children should recognise). I loved this clever, beautifully illustrated story giving an insight into the correspondence of some well-known fairytale characters. A wonderful selection of 'The Jolly Postman' resources with everything you need to support your teaching on this lovely children's book.

The Jolly Christmas Postman has been delighting children for generations, making it the perfect book to share on Christmas Eve! Once students have sorted all their letters, bring the class together again and ask them to share what they found as they worked with their letters. I have really enjoyed some books by this author and illustrator, husband and wife duo, but this wasn't one of them. According to CCSU, some runners up through 2002 were Commended (from 1959) or Highly Commended (from 1974). By using this text in the classroom there is an opportunity to open the discussion of why people send letters and the technique for writing a good letter. The story follows The Jolly Postman as he delivers letters and parcels to various characters from popular children's stories.

The illustrations are so adorable, I can't wait to read this to my youngest grandkids, the older one already loves it.The annual award by the Library Association then recognised the year's best children's book illustration by a British subject. The colored drawings in this book are wonderful too, and you can look at them all day and every day and never grow tired of them. Students read a wide range of print and nonprint texts to build an understanding of texts, of themselves, and of the cultures of the United States and the world; to acquire new information; to respond to the needs and demands of society and the workplace; and for personal fulfillment.
