About this deal

The move to new paper packaging for the nine remaining twist-wrapped sweets will take a few months to fully implement.

News of Quality Street's personalised tub comes after manufacturer Nestle announced it would scrap its brightly coloured plastic wrappers after 86 years. Since it was first launched in 1936, Quality Street has been produced in Halifax, West Yorkshire, UK. Their son, Harold Mackintosh, developed Quality Street in the 1930s to create an affordable, brightly coloured assortment of chocolates and sweets. Two flavors - Orange Crunch and the Green Triangle - will remain in their existing foil wrappers as they can already be recycled. Some chocolate-lovers may be perturbed to learn that their favourite source of chocolate indulgence over the Christmas period has been reduced in weight by 70g, having shrunken in size on several occasions in recent years. There will also be the option to send a free, personalised message along with the tin to a loved one. We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and improve our understanding of you.

The chocolate caramel brownie consists of a milk chocolate shell with chocolate-flavoured caramel inside.Louise Barrett, Head of the Nestlé Confectionery Product Technology Centre in York, said: "With nine different sweets to consider, the transition has been a huge undertaking. Our purpose is to unlock the power of food to enhance the quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come. They’ve been a British favourite for more than 80 years, with iconic foil wrapped treats that are unbeatably nostalgic. It is this belief that fuels our commitment to use our global scale, resources and expertise to contribute to a healthier future for people and the planet.

We think we’ve done a really good job with the redesign, and feel confident that people will respond positively. Quality Street is 84 years old and as popular today as it has ever been, but that doesn’t mean the brand hasn’t changed over the years. That’s why we are making it easier than ever to create and personalise your Quality Street experience. Cheryl Allen, head of sustainability at Nestlé confectionery, said the company thought long and hard before making the change.

For instance, does your family vie for the Green Triangles and Caramel Swirls while Toffee Fingers are left in the tin? You are advised to always read the product label for ingredients, nutrition, dietary claims and allergens.
