About this deal

In addition to the colour cards, each player is armed with a capture card adding a further dynamic to gameplay. All these games play in a very similar way, which may precipitate the question, ‘Joe, why on earth do you have them all! The questions in Disney Colourbrain come from the whole world of Disney, including Pixar movies and Winnie the Pooh. Since 1943, families across the world have been trying to pinpoint who killed Colonel Mustard with a candlestick in the Billiard Room - and the answer is almost always that sneaky Professor Plum. There is also a Junior edition available if you have little ones who want to show off their knowledge.

Colourbrain: Award-Winning Simple Family Board Game

You’d think that the range of questions would be very similar to Disney ColourBrain but, despite what conspiracy theorists may suggest, Disney doesn’t have a monopoly on kids entertainment! Enter the four editions of Colourbrain (yes four currently): Colourbrain original, Colourbrain Mini, Colourbrain Junior and Disney Colourbrain. So if everyone is correct, nobody scores and a point is carried to the next question, if two are correct and two are incorrect then the the victorious two players/teams get two points each. We were playing with 2 or 3 teams, so could only ever score 0, 1 or 2 points per round - which you mark on this handy scorepad. From your set you’ll lay face down the card or cards that match the colours of the thing described on the question card. If you play frequently with the same group (ie your immediate family) this could well impact the longevity, but the same argument can be levelled at any trivia/question based game.

Apart from a few very subtle tweaks across the editions, all follow the same ruleset: read a card out aloud to all teams; each team determines what colour or colours to answer using 11 differently coloured cards before the correct answer is revealed; and points (or groans) allocated.Junior does a great job of bridging that gap between Disney and the original with it’s use of pop culture as well as more general topics. Releasing after the original means the designers get the chance to clean up the rules and make some fun tweaks in addition to the Disney makeover. Again, it can take a while to get all the way to the grand finale but the euphoria of having sussed it out way before anyone else will be enough to keep you going.

Suitable for 2-12 players aged 8+, this is a question and answer game where every answer is a colour. This Disney variant, unsurprisingly, tailors all the questions to Disney and all its characters, films and tv shows. The big stack of cards you draw encounters from contains all sorts of memorable Disney moments to enliven your adventure. There’s a surprising amount of strategy beneath the enticing wrapper here, making this fun for families and hardcore gamers alike. Inspired by the iconic 90s movie, there is also a Jumanji board game and honestly it sounds amazing. There’s an excellent range of entertaining general knowledge questions too, for example: An Elephant eating candy floss?
