It essentially neuters the entire allure of a looter style game and any side forms of progression that supposed to increase player power over time. Just don’t think I am going to have time to play it right now, and with Baldurs Gate 3 on the horizon I might put it on ice until nearer Christmas. We can only imagine how much better it will be to have some stalwart swords at our backs and take on some of the content we couldn't come to grips with alone. And this is scoring highly, but people don't really think of it in the same way they would do if it was a shooter, FIFA UT etc. Some snacks are ready, energy boosts laying in fridge, I am ready for "Spin to Win" all weekend long.

It's a shame, too, because some of the voice work is really great (as is the writing), and there are some truly impressive set-piece moments.

Destiny tried it's hardest to emulate diablo 3 and repeatedly fell short in the simplicity of its mechanics. This exactly the type of game from the type of developers and overlords that wisdom comes from waiting to hear true consensus after release. Makes me suspect Take-two/Rockstar taking a similar approach to GTA 6,hence the previous scrapped version wherein one might’ve still had separate play modes.The story itself is engaging enough, but if we have a real complaint, it's that it starts to drag on in the back half.

Green-Bandit I mean this is why the AB movement is such a big deal and shouldn't be allowed (it will tho). Diablo 4 is the true successor to the bad old days of action RPGs and oozes quality in its frenetic combat and deep, engaging character development.
