About this deal

The conversation is getting louder, but while some lucky women joyously “sail through” the menopause with little more than red clover tea, the reality is that 80% have symptoms – from brain fog to anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, exhaustion, vaginal dryness and stiff joints – and most (like me) don’t tell their employers, partners or each other. I’ve been peri menopausal for at least the last year and reading this book has been such an eye opener for me. I’m now helping Dr Newson launch The Menopause Charity, and it turns out the safer body-identical HRT isn’t available in all parts of Britain. However, this book was a fantastic introduction to the topic and very easy to listen to and to understand. Dorothy Byrne, the former head of Channel 4 news and current affairs, broke that silence in 2019 in her MacTaggart television lecture about her executive-level hot flushes.

The book not only assisted me in identifying the symptoms directly linked to my perimenopause, but it also aided me in untangling the intricate connection between hormonal changes and the impact of my past trauma on my overall well-being. then to be nominated 😃😄😁 and then actually win two awards , and one of them be actual ‘book of the year’.Useful advice and support on every aspect of the menopause and HRT together with collated individual stories.

Sign our petition to keep people in their homes Urgent action is needed to prevent even more people being pushed into homelessness. Nominees included memoirs by Matthew Perry and the late Alan Rickman but the winner was Super-Infinite, a biography of poet John Donne by Katherine Rundell. I also shouted at my boss only 6 weeks into a new job as no-one bothered to tell me about the mood swings and red-mist rage. An UPRISING that started with Sex Myths and the Menopause, my Channel 4 documentary and now continues with Menopausing. There are two small areas of the book which mention ‘women who have had cancer’ it talks endlessly about HRT which is never an option for women who have had oestrogen positive cancers obviously! We ask for your permission before anything is loaded, as they may be using cookies and other technologies.

out of 5 stars as it made me cry, gave me lots of easy to digest information and science and whilst I didn't necessarily agree with Davina on all or other topics, her committment to achieving change for 51% of the population is to be highly commended. The book provided me with valuable information and a sense of relief about the numerous symptoms that I was unaware were associated with my perimenopause.

Another aspect that disappointed me was the heavy emphasis on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) throughout the book. It’s going to happen to us all whether we like it or not so do yourself a favour and pick this one up (to leave on your coffee table! By exploring and explaining the science, debunking damaging myths, and smashing the taboos around the perimenopause and menopause, this book will equip women to make the most informed decisions about their health. This book also makes you realise you're not on your own and there's an army of women out their to support you and make sense of the way you are feeling! This book has since became my bible and I’ll be taking it with me to my upcoming doctors appointment when I go to discuss HRT. I would have appreciated more advice for people who have had breast cancer, as for us, there is no magic pill.
