I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the album release – hanging out with fans, playing old favourites and new stuff from the album, and just having a party in this beautiful room overlooking Glasgow. On Sunday 26 March Beattie performed 2 songs, Heart Stops Beating and Salamander Street in the centre circle at Ibrox park for the Rangers Football Club Legends match.

There have been times in my life where I just thought getting music into the market was completely beyond me, so to have come this far on such an incredible journey is just something I have gratitude for every single day. In the second half, manager Alex McLeish selected Beattie to play on the field alongside Rangers and rest of the world legends. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.

These songs are songs I wanted to record, not songs dictated by a label or by trends or anything else - they are just my view of the world. On 26 June 2020 Beattie released his first music video for the song " Salamander Street", about a former classmate who became a prostitute in Edinburgh. Gavin was the inspiration behind Shane Meadows’ ‘This Is England,’ and working with him was a dream come true. The whole idea was to keep it small, intimate, so the RED Sky Bar is perfect – and we are doing two performances so 300 fans will get to be part of it overall.

It’s almost impossible to maintain the self-belief that you can achieve anything, but somehow with Dave’s help I’ve managed to keep at it, and this album is really the ultimate reward for that perseverance. The first single from the album Heart Stops Beating stayed in the Bauer Radio playlist for ten months.Culturally, it was a very specific period in history, where you could almost feel the class divide on the local streets. When you start out the way I did, singing in pubs sometimes to two guys and a dug, your dreams are constantly put on the back burner. He sold out the iconic Kelvingrove Bandstand in August with the tickets going in less than 24 hours and has a run of shows to come, while the dream is to play at Scotland's National Stadium, Hampden Park in Glasgow.
