I would never ever want my child to feel like she is "boring me silly" when she talks about subjects she loves (page 34), that I "cringe with embarrassment" when she is blunt (page 46) or that she won't fit in or be bullied when she tries to make friends (pages 15-18). We build and maintain all our own systems, but we don’t charge for access, sell user information, or run ads. I have said this for years: this book, beautifully illustrated, managed in few pages and simple text to make me laugh, stir up memories, make me nod in recognition and even choke up. However words do matter, and sometimes we get things wrong, and that’s ok if we are gracious about respecting the views of others and are prepared to use their preferred language once we know what it is.While Hoopman thought this statement was empathetic in 2006, many people have since found it incorrect and “insulting to those on the spectrum as it belittles the very real challenges they face daily. Experts have debated over this matter and they have reached a conclusion that there is a chance that cats can suffer from autism.

Delightful colour photographs of cats bring to life familiar characteristics such as sensitive hearing, scampering at the first sign of being stroked, and particular eating habits. My cats do that if I'm yelling at them or asking who knocked this or that over--suddenly every one of them has something else very interesting to look at.

So very glad that Kathy has chosen to update these worthy books … as women we need to be acknowledging women in everything we do! For example, a person with autism may say, “You look silly wearing that,” and the other person may feel offended. I narrowed my selection down to around 750 of my favourites, then whittled those down until finally 65 were chosen. I am very excited, and honoured, that my Danish translator, Anne Skov Jensen has written her own foreword to the Danish version, ‘ Alle katte er på autismespektret’ .
