About this deal

The Pok émon Go Plus is a handy wearable that connects to your phone via Bluetooth. It’s shaped like the Google Maps locating pin, but splashed with the colours of a Pokéball. Its purpose is to notify Poké-addicts about in-game events. Pokémon GO Plus + is a new device that uses Bluetooth® Low Energy technology to link with the Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon GO smart device apps! Gameplay wise, it appears to work in a similar way to the hit mobile game that took over the world in the summer of 2016. You complete a sleep style dex instead of a Pokédex over time, just by sleeping. The longer you sleep, the higher your score.

Looking for a purpose outside of 'button that you keep in your bed', the Plus + also "contains a Pikachu" who can serenade you with lullabies as you sleep (though with a vocabulary limited to the words "Pika" and "Pika-Pika", so don't go expecting any lyrical wizardry) and "grows friendlier the more sleep you get together", which sounds like an, uh, interesting function...There are no issues with connecting the Pokémon GO Plus+, its Bluetooth connection is fast and has no problem detecting the device as long as you have it close to your phone. Battery Life However, you can only auto-catch with Poke Balls. There was a glitch that previously allowed auto-catching with Great/Ultra Balls, but that has unfortunately been fixed with the 0.277.1 update.

It works by using a series of vibrations and coloured LED lights to alert you when there’s a Pokémon around, or when you pass a PokéStop. When it flashes green, it means you’ve caught it before, and when it flashes yellow, it means it’s a new Pokémon that you haven’t yet registered in your PokéDex. The Auto-Catch and Auto-Spin features are very handy and uncommon for other catching devices. When moving and you can’t play Pokémon GO it’s a great way to maximise catches and get items easily. The Pokémon Go Plus can be worn either on your wrist – it comes bundled with a strap – or you can clip it on to your belt, coat, or shirt. Will it be compatible with my phone? The news follows Nintendo’s high-profile slot at the recent iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2 launch recently. The Pokemon Company has finally announced a confirmed release date for its Pokemon Go Plus+ device which is available this summer after its initial 2019 announcement.

With Pokémon GO, use this accessory to spin PokéStops or throw Poké Balls automatically (and Great Balls and Ultra Balls too!). You can catch Pokémon without even pressing a button! Linking the Pokémon GO Plus + with Pokémon GO will also let you take on Special Research to catch a Snorlax with a nightcap. The Pokémon GO Plus+’s battery life is exceptional and it lasts a long time. I used the device quite frequently while testing it and only needed to charge it once over 4 days. You can tell its charge by pressing the button on the top and a small LED will light up. Green means Mostly charged, Yellow with 1 blink means Slightly reduced, Yellow with 2 blinks means Greatly reduced, and Red means the battery is Low. Compared to other devices, I believe it has a slightly longer battery life. A portable device called the Pokémon GO Plus (sold separately) will enable Pokémon GO players to enjoy the game even while they’re not looking at their smart phones. Compatible with both iOS and Android, Pokémon GO Plus connects to smartphones via Bluetooth low energy and notifies players about nearby Pokémon and PokéStops. When a Pokémon is near, the device will vibrate and its LED will flash green. Players can press the button on the device once close to throw a Poké Ball. A successful catch will result in the device flashing and vibrating.

This accessory requires a device (using Android or iOS) with the Pokémon GO and/or Pokémon Sleep applications installed. Not being able to turn off the lights and vibrations on the Pokémon GO Plus+ is a huge problem. When you catch a Pokémon with the device or spin a PokéStop, the circle on the front will light up in rainbow colours and the device will vibrate repeatedly You’ve been able to buy one for a while, or rather, Nintendo has been happy to take your hard-earned cash and promise to send you one at some point. Compatible with: Android 4.4 or higher that have Bluetooth® Smart(Bluetooth v4.0 or higher) capability and RAM2GB or more. A monster that would be new to your line-up? Sorry, you’ll still have to get your phone out to snare the critter.

Currently, there is a Silent Mode feature but that is only for Pokémon Sleep functionalities and to silence the Pikachu sounds, but that doesn’t disable the vibration and lights. Hopefully in a future update this can be changed. Exclusive Special Research takes too long The game classifies your sleep into one of three sleep styles – dozing, snoozing or slumbering – based on how well you’ve slept, and you’ll find Pokémon sleeping in a similar way to you around Snorlax when you wake up, ready to be registered in a sleep style dex.

iPhone compatibility: 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7 and 7 Plus (and the Apple Watch Series 2) This one isn’t that big of a problem, but sometimes Auto-connect doesn’t particularly work and it doesn’t start auto-catching and auto-spinning straight away. This isn’t too troublesome as you can just disconnect it and reconnect it in Settings to fix the issue. If you were already looking into investing in a catching device, the Pokémon GO Plus + is the way to go. Its price is only a little higher than other devices, provides great features, and is quite useful in daily gameplay. Its usefulness is immense and it can also be used in the new game, Pokémon Sleep. The only weakness that is unavoidable is the vibration and lights, which is something I have become used to, however, it still may be a problem for you. As a bonus for trainers who link the GO Plus +, a new exclusive Special Research “ Catching Some Z’s” becomes available. The rewards are decent as previously mentioned but the tasks are extremely tedious. The small gadget features an LED which flashes when a Pokémon or Pokéstop is nearby, accompanied by a vibration. Better still, if it’s a Pokémon you’ve already caught, you can catch it without having to access your phone – just press the button in the centre of the device.
