I recently had a great conversation with one of the owners of the the Omnia Oven. It was a pleasure to connect with him and know their customer service is exceptional. Use the Omnia to bake-off your baguettes and croissant for breakfast – a great way to start the day! It’s similar to the Coleman Camp Oven I reviewed not too long ago. It’s a little more expensive, but I think this is reflected in the quality and materials it’s constructed from. The Coleman Oven folds down and is not made from such strong aluminium as the Omnia.

Again, I could not wait to see how these muffins would turn out. Just like the biscuits, I was not disappointed! Perfectly baked, browned on the tops, warm and delicious. They are slightly more done on one side than the other, my fault don't think I had it on there straight. Had them with experimental beetroot & red kidney bean veggie burgers with carrots, celery & broccoli. After several weeks of testing the Omnia with a variety of dishes, my conclusion is that it’s the best way to bake on the stove top that I’ve ever tried. If your boat (or RV or any other kitchen) doesn’t have a true oven, I highly recommend the Omnia oven: This insert will help with keeping the oven clean of burning and tarnishing and it will also keep your cake intact when you take it out of the tin. It is a circular ring-shaped tin, that is similar looking to a bundt tin, and it sits on top of your stove hob.

If you are making cakes then you will need the silicone insert as the baking paper is difficult to line within the base of the oven due to the ring shape. If you keep it clean and take care I can’t see any reason why this oven will not last for years, so think of it as a smart investment. Conclusion As a passionate cook and living full-time van life, here is my honest review of the Omnia oven, and will I claim this to be the best campervan oven?

However, the Omnia does have one HUGE advantage over a Dutch oven: it doesn’t require charcoals/embers. All you need is a camp stove. With a product like the Omnia Stovetop Oven, the pros are abundant. The biggest pro is its small size and light weight. As mentioned earlier, most RV ovens are large and take up a lot of space, but not the Omnia Stovetop Oven. When disassembled, the space is comparable to a standard pan. Not only that, the Omnia can cook an entire meal consisting of an entree with multiple sides. A similar meal without the Omnia would require two or three pots or pans. This translates into less time and less cleanup afterward and reduces the number of pots and pans kept in your camper. Who wouldn’t like that? The Omnia oven is a stove-top appliance that sits on top of your hob, and using a variety of heat sources it allows you to cook foods that would normally require the use of an oven. The whole thing is smaller and much lighter than a good cast iron Dutch oven (it’s about 10 inches in diameter, 5 inches high, weighs about a pound and comes with a little bag to store it it). Flour gently and bake for about 20 mins on a medium heat (or 220c if proper oven) but be careful if using a double skillet etc as base will burn.I did not roll the dough at all, I just patted it into a round and cut out 6 scones, using a cutter about 2½"across. When I baked using the Dutch oven, it was hard to keep the top of the baked food from being steamed by the moisture being driven out of the food. The Omnia takes care of that, with the lid being high enough over the food to have quite a bit of hot air there, as well as having holes to let the steam escape. My bread and baked goods were very similar in texture to what they were in a conventional oven. Buying the Omnia Oven Storage Bag: Nice to have but not essential, this storage bag fits the Omnia and all its accessories and will help prevent scratches and dings when you store it. Yes, I have made several lots of scones since my roast potatoes post, not sure if they are drool worthy or not.
