About this deal

The Panasonic Lumix GX880 is a sleek and stylish mirrorless camera for high-quality 4K shooting with advanced selfie function technology. Most users of this camera will leave it in JPEG mode and be totally satisfied (there are 7 JPEG Picture Profiles you can choose from and 22 Creative Filter effects). However to get the most out of the GX850, we recommend shooting Raw. The above image was processed through Adobe Camera Raw and 'pops' significantly more than the out of camera JPEG(shot in 'Standard' profile). In general, we found default JPEG color can be a tad washed out and skin tones can also occasionally look a little off. Its GX series aimed at enthusiast photographers is a case in point. The GX1 was a viewfinderless fixed-screen camera designed as a spiritual successor to the much-loved GF1. Its replacement, the GX7, was a slightly larger camera with a built-in, tilting electronic viewfinder, a tilting LCD screen and in a first for Panasonic, in-body image stabilization. TTL Built-in-Flash, GN5.6 equivalent (ISO200 ・m) / GN4.0 equivalent (ISO100 ・m) (Reference), Built-in Pop-up

Much like many of the most beloved contemporary smart devices, the GX880 features outstanding photographic effects. Two of which are the Soft Skin Effect and Slimming Effect. The Soft Skin Effect gives you the ability to fine-tune the brightness and smoothness of skin tones while the Slimming effect allows the photographer to adjust the sharpness of an image giving a slimming effect. Panasonic GX880 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera Specification: In fact, other than the smattering of improvements that have been made to the camera's already impressive range of selfie modes, designed principally for the Asian market, there's very little to reason to consider the Panasonic GX880 instead of the GX800, unless the pricing is the same or very similar.Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 5 minutes with [MP4] in [4K] and [4K PHOTO]. This is a good camera for casual photos of friends. And if you take the time to process the Raw files, as we've done here, you can get some great results. Photo by Dan Bracaglia

The Panasonic Lumix GX800, or GX850 as it’s known in North America, is an entry-level mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. Announced in January 2017, it replaces the GF7 and is aimed at anyone upgrading from a phone or compact camera for better quality, control and flexibility. Like all of Panasonic’s mirrorless cameras to date, it’s based on the Micro Four Thirds system which means it works with any lens designed for that format, including a wealth of options from Panasonic and Olympus. Panasonic typically sells the GX800 / GX850 in a kit with a 12-32mm / 2.7x kit zoom that’s equivalent to 24-64mm in coverage, giving you slightly wider angle capabilities than most kit lenses. Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 20 minutes with [AVCHD] in [FHD/60p] [FHD/60i] [FHD/50p] [FHD/50i]. With its high-speed signal readout of the sensor and engine processing, the LUMIX GX880 records smooth, high-resolution 4K videos in 3840x2160 resolution at 30p / 25p(50Hz Area) or 24p in addition to the Full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60p / 50p(50Hz Area) videos with practical full-time AF. The Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 is the smallest CSC in Panasonic’s line-up, and indeed it’s one of the smallest currently available on the market. You could be forgiven for thinking, especially with the small pancake kit lens attached, that it’s a premium compact camera. For advanced users, the LUMIX GX880 is capable of developing RAW images inside the camera. In addition to the colour space setting (sRGB/ AdobeRGB), the parameters for white balance, exposure compensation, contrast, highlight/shadow, saturation, noise reduction, and sharpness can be flexibly adjusted and LUMIX’s Photo Style, Intelligent D-range Control, and Intelligent Resolution can also be applied. All of the sample images in this review were taken using the 16 megapixel Fine JPEG setting, which gives an average image size of around 7Mb.

Dials and buttons are kept to a minimum for this camera. On the right hand side of the top plate there’s a mode dial for switching between the various exposure modes which the camera offers. Despite the fact that this camera is aimed at beginners, it’s possible to shoot in manual and semi-automatic modes. You’ll also find options such as automatic, scene, panorama and digital filters. The camera's small size, touch capability and selfie screen make it an appealing choice for casually snapping images of friends, family and pets. The Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 allows you to take panoramic images very easily by 'sweeping' with the camera. The camera does all the processing and stitching. In addition many of the Creative Filter effects can also be applied to panorama shots in the Creative Panorama mode. Panorama Above: It’s possible to remote control the Lumix GX800 / GX850 over Wifi using the free Lumix Image app for iOS or Android devices; I used it on my Samsung Galaxy S7. Here you can see the app remote-controlling the camera, delivering a live image and letting you adjust settings and capture still photos or even trigger movie recordings. Macro performance of the kit lens is a weakness, with the closest focusing distance 20cm from the lens, and for more serious macro photography a different lens is recommended. When shooting with the sun in the frame it is possible to see some lens flare, however, this wasn't a huge issue the majority of the time. The GX880 is the latest high-performance Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera in Panasonic's Lumix line of digital cameras. Ideal for use at home or while travelling this camera's 16.1 MP Live MOS Sensor without low pass filter will capture detailed photos at up to 5 frames per second in burst mode. Does the GX880 have a tilt screen LCD for selfies and video?

For the rest of the review I’m going to highlight and demonstrate a selection of the camera’s features in more detail.

IOS is a trademark or registered trademark of Cisco in the U.S. and other countries and is used under license. Capture the moment with ultra-high-definition 4K PHOTO and 4K video technology with added Night Mode and Wide 4K selfie functions To be honest, the finger-grip only marginally improves your hold on the camera, and we'd hesitate choosing this new model over the previous GX800 just because of the new grip. Specifically designed for content creators and family photographers the GX880 features an LCD display that tilts 180º to face the camera user. It features a new Night Mode Selfie, Wide 4K selfie and a portrait mode in which you can soften skin and slim your subjects faces. How does the Night Mode Selfie feature work?
