All in all, Kokushibo's defeat required the combined efforts of three powerful Marked Hashira (two of which awakened the Transparent World) with Bright Red Blades, a Demon Slayer capable of using Blood Demon Arts, and even then, the battle was narrowly won and cost the Demon Slayers' two lives, a feat that truly exemplifies the might of Upper Rank One. Crescent Moon Blades: [22] Complementing his combat style: Moon Breathing, his Blood Demon Art allows him to create dozens of blades shaped like a crescent moon with every sword slash that constantly change in size, length and speed. The crescent blades have been shown to be either bright yellow or bright blue in color. This enhances the lethality of his techniques, allowing him to overwhelm a marked Hashira, Muichiro Tokito and keep up with two other stronger marked Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa and Gyomei Himejima. The Breath of the Insect’s name is an allusion to Wisteria Flower poison, which can kill demons. The thin, slim woman is identified as having an infirm physique and has said that she can’t behead demons. Shinobu can’t take down demons the traditional way. Still, she can take them down by using her deadly stinger-like Katana. Inosuke Fourth Form: Shifting Flow Slash ( 肆 ( し ) ノ 型 ( かた ) 移 ( い ) 流 ( りゅう ) 斬 ( ぎ ) り , Shi no kata: Iryūgiri ?) Moon Breathing Style swordsmanship used by Kokushibo is likely to have been corrupted from its original forms since Kokushibou as a Demon has an ability to use Blood Demon Art. Blood Demon Art and Total Concentration Breathing Styles can be used together with an enhanced effect. Kokushibo has been challenged three times for his position. One of these battles involved Akaza. While Kokushibo would usually absorb the demon he defeated, he let Akaza live because he enjoyed the challenge. [1] It can also mean "inherit/inheritance, succeed/succession, patch, graft (tree)" (継) ( tsugi) and "country" (国) ( kuni) separately.The chain was durable enough that Kokushibo couldn’t cut through it and had to fight at close range. Considering that Kokushibo is the second most powerful demon alive, this is quite an accomplishment. It wasn’t until the final fight with Muzan that the chain of his weapon began breaking. However, it wasn’t without reward and Gyomei was one of the key factors in defeating him. The Swordsmith Village Arc Brings In Three New Allies And Two Upper Rank Kizuki Instead, he uses a technique referred to as Repetitive Action, which acts as a substitute for Total Concentration Breathing. It's important to note that this technique was taught to Genya by Gyomei Himejima, who himself is a Breathing user, implying that it is possible to use both techniques in conjunction with one another. Kokushibo was an extraordinary and powerful swordsman, proven to be thestrongest of the Twelve Kizuki and the second strongest Demon in the series, justbehind Muzan Kibutsuji. As one of the oldest Demons in the series, he had battled numerous Demon Slayers and obtained vast experience and knowledge of combat. He was able to easily decipherthe techniques and skills of at least two Hashira and overwhelm them in battle. As a Breath Style user, he possessed tremendous levels of strength and reflexes that werefurther enhanced by his Demon physiology. Against Kokushibo, the strongest Upper Rank, Genya consumed his hair and a chunk of his flesh katana, gaining enough strength to develop his own Blood Demon Art which played a pivotal role in the defeat of the Upper Rank.

The relationship between Yoriichi and Michikatsu parallels the mythology of the Shinto deities Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, respectively. Amaterasu is the most sacred of Shinto deities, the sun goddess. Tsukuyomi, the moon god, is her former husband and brother. After Tsukuyomi killed Uke Mochi, another shinto deity, Amaterasu refused to ever look upon him again, moving to another part of the sky and beginning the cycle of day and night. Like the deities, the siblings also feud and have chosen different paths (that of the Demon Slayer and the Demon), developing their respective breathings of the sun and moon.
