The coins and notes that bear the Queen's portrait will continue to be issued for the remainder of the year or perhaps longer, after which the new portrait will come into circulation. The Royal Mint has already given the British public a first glance at what their new currency will look like featuring King Charles, unveiling an official coin effigy that was designed by British sculptor, Martin Jennings.After the death of Alexander III in 1286, Scotland fell into a long period of internal strife and war with England.
