La perfezione, quella immaginaria e immaginata, viene meno, soprattutto quando ci si ritrova a guardare un corpo che porta i segni del tempo. Un corpo naturale, un corpo che non ha niente a che fare con quelli stereotipati, delle soubrette che popolano il piccolo schermo, delle modelle che si rincorrono in passerella. No, non c’è un corpo perfetto, se non è l’occhio stesso a renderlo tale. Nowadays the aesthetic of beauty is totally standardized, and where doesn’t reach reality, we (over)use photo editing. REALITY PROJECT is born to contrast this distorted view that is imposed on us daily by the media, and to demonstrate instead that the true beauty can be found in every body. ! It is a photographic project that portrays normal people, real and nude, leaving their body to express and convey their natural beauty without photo retouching, in all its shapes and sizes. ! The project, in progress, is an idea of Alessandro Viganò and Matteo Scarpellini, also known as ALMA PHOTOS, two photographers from Milan who always portray ordinary and “real” people. Hence the name of the project.

I adore sailing whenever I can, ride my bike, watch movies and sleep. The last two things often simultaneously. TK: How has REALITY PROJECT changed the way you look at the world and what have you learnt about yourself?
AP: Taking pictures of naked bodies (almost weekly) is something becoming very normal. We got used to it very easily.
It’s a very natural thing, and even our subjects at the end of the shooting feel much better about themselves and their body. They’ve been all very nice and relaxed by now. Infine vi è la serie di “autoscatti” (come la foto della ragazza con le orecchie da coniglietta qui presentata) realizzati con una vecchia Polaroid su pellicola istantanea FujiFilm. TK: What was your most memorable moment shooting the REALITY PROJECT?
AP: The first shooting was Amazing.
It was like “the first time” for everybody. But we ended up very relaxed and the shooting went very smooth.
I remember a few shootings after when a girl went to another room to take her clothes off. That was very funny! Nobody is perfect, no-body is perfect. I colori sono naturali e il corpo è nudo, così com’è, senza inganno alcuno.Con il nostro lavoro vogliamo dimostrare che la vera bellezza la si trova in ogni corpo, indipendentemente dalla forma e dimensioni. Reality Project è completamente autoprodotto, e per poter continuare a fotografare abbiamo bisogno anche del vostro aiuto. But under this flawless skin is a rotten deception, one deepened by a social-media saturated society. ‘Most of the bodies we see online on a daily basis aren’t even real, but rather enhanced or modified by technology to conform to a current, unsustainable trend,’ says LA-based photographer Julia SH, who is exhibiting powerful, textured portraits of bodies rarely depicted in 21st-century media, presented in museum-like frames. ‘In the US, what little nudity permitted is usually shown in a sexual context. Seeing nudes in a museum is one of the only exceptions to this. I created a series where I framed my models as sculptures and works of art in the hope that the viewer will suspend any judgments about whether they find the models sexually attractive or not, or whether their bodies are socially “acceptable”. The more body types we are exposed to, the more pragmatic our view will become.’

La fotografia per noi è un mezzo di espressione e comunicazione. C’è che scrive, chi parla, chi disegna. Ultimately, it was thanks to word-of-mouth that Odette’s project finally gathered steam. The initial shoots for the series that was to become ‘Belles Mômes’(Beautiful Girls ) took place in a studio where Odette had previously worked as a life model. After photographing her first subject, Sylviane, Odette found that the more images she accumulated, the more material she could show her prospective models to reassure them: “I think people can see there’s nothing degrading in my pictures.” Il nostro lavoro vive se viene mostrato a un pubblico. Non avrebbe senso fare tutto questo lavoro e tenerlo nel cassetto. Ma qual è l’orizzonte del progetto? “E’ una cosa che intendiamo portare avanti sul lungo periodo – spiega sempre Viganò -, non ci interessava un servizio fine a se stesso ma piuttosto aprire un percorso, che alla fine potrebbe portare a un libro, a una mostra o qualcos’altro che potrebbe rivelarsi strada facendo”.Da qui l’idea del sito: “L’intento di Reality Project, come dice il nome stesso, è quello di fotografare persone normali, reali e nude, lasciando che il corpo racconti la loro bellezza naturale, senza trucchi o fotoritocchi, in tutte le sue forme e dimensioni”.
