The smoke is dense but not overwhelming, allowing the other flavours to show themselves fully. It is soft and warm, making this the perfect malt for cold, winter nights. The finish is long and winding, allowing the smoke to move like it is coming straight off a peat fire. Light, Young, Waxy, Sweet and Fruity. A few Floral notes as well. The influence of the Peated Whisky cask Finish is rather limited. The Fruit Flavours are a bit Artificial like in Candies. You can buy a bottle of the Scapa Glansa in Norway at NOK 625 ( 7852901), in Sweden at SEK 399 ( 86963), and in the UK at around GBP 35. The core products of the distillery are currently Skapa Skiren (matured in American first fill oak casks) and Skapa Glansa (a lightly smoked peat whisky). Skapa Glansa was launched in 2016 and is a no age statement whisky. [11] See also [ edit ] Scapa pride themselves on their dedication to traditional distilling and are one of the few manually run distilleries around today. The lemon zest also becomes more pronounced and is joined by some wonderfully smooth caramel, with subtle hints of oak wood. The whisky fades out during a finish which I found rather bland and uninteresting. There is nothing really wrong in the exit, but then again there is nothing really right about it either. The Afterburn 8/10

Reviewing the lovely Scapa Glansa Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The tang and the smooth caramel come together perfectly and also contribute to an easy-going mouth feel. Chivas extends Scapa line with peated addition". www.thespiritsbusiness.com. 20 September 2016 . Retrieved 2 September 2020. Both whiskies on the table today are NAS expressions (“ageless” they say). Yet they’re not particularly cheap. Scapa distillery opens doors to public for first time". The Spirits Business. 27 April 2015 . Retrieved 10 October 2021. With that in mind, they have recently released their first peated expression, Scapa Glansa. The name comes from Old Norse for shining storm laden skies and captures the unique history of the isle of Orkney, with its Viking past as well as the stormy spirit inside the bottle. The bay of Scapa Flow lies with the Orkney Mainland to the North and South Ronaldsay and Hoy to the East and West respectively. The bay is of considerable historic significance, having been a naval base for the British fleet during both World Wars. During the First World War, the Grand Fleet employed the bay as their Northern base and during the Second World War a German U-Boat entered the bay and subsequently sank the HMS Royal Oak. Mouth: a thin delivery on diluted ashes. There’s some vanilla cake and subtle pepper, coated in a round creaminess. Apple and citrus. Then soft hints of roasted coffee beans, which are quite nice. Part of the Distillery Reserve Collection, this non chill-filtered 12 year old Scapa cask strength single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2015 at 58.5% ABV. That individuality comes through in the two noted single malts this distillery produces: Scapa Skiren and Scapa Glansa. They are a study in subtle contrasts. For one, Scapa Skiren reveals a deliciously honeyed profile, which defies the typical peaty character that tends to accompany many other island whiskies. In fact, even though the water at source is peaty by nature, it’s transported by pipelines to limit exposure to more peat. Skiren delivers notes of tropical fruit and citrus, and a hint of heather. The palate is creamy, with soft pear hanging on a sustained finish.
