About this deal

Not sure what size seatpost you have currently? There are a couple different ways to find out.• Most seatposts have the diameter printed somewhere near the bottom of the post. You'll need to remove the seatpost from the bike frame (mark your existing seatpost height with a bit of tape before you remove it so you can replace it easily), and look for a number like 27.2, 30.9, or 31.6 (etc.). That is the diameter of the post. As a person who has dealt with hand numbness due to bad technique, this would be a nice layer of protection. JamesWalker - I too have one on a Orro Terra C, it has did me proud on the Dirty Reiver and Yorkshire True Grit. I found it a little on the spongy side, and it bottomed out easily which soon became annoying. A lot of this I put down to the fact that I have quite a large drop from my saddle to the handlebar, which puts extra weight on my wrists. Weight: While the stem is made from lightweight materials, it may still be slightly heavier than some other stem options, particularly those made from lighter materials such as carbon fiber. Ride faster - feeling refreshed from the energy that is normally wasted suspending your body as it is converted into forward motionTake control - customize your suspension feel to float over obstacles and maintain control over rough terrain Suspension Stem Features Sadly I couldn't work out what the effect would be if tyres and pressures were already wider and lower. On my Al road bike, which is pretty buzzy (hence my burgeoning obsession with this) I'm on 28 mm and 70 ish psi. Any lower and a feeling of vagueness like Matt Lucas impersonating Boris Johnson comes in as the speed gets above 35 km/h (descending only, I seldom get a tailwind for that speed on the flat). The bottom of range Michelins might be a factor. So this might help a bit. The five supplied elastomers are coloured and marked 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 in relation to their durometer values. But, in the case that you have a smaller diameter handlebar, we also have shims available for 26.0 mm and 25.4 mm handlebar sizes. At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works.

BMC claims the torsional stiffness is equal to a standard stem and that you’ll only feel the effects of the suspension when it comes to smoothing out rougher surfaces. The stem comes with five elastomer rigidities that can be mixed and matched to fine-tune the feel. In total, there’s up to 20mm of tunable suspension.
