Its compact and ultra-lightweight SHELL LT storage bag can also transform the headlamp into a lantern. It also happens when running with others who are wearing hi-vis, reflective materials or running head torches of their own. In situations like this, the light will dim, but you may not want it to.

The Petzl Swift RL has 3 brightness levels in either reactive lighting or standard mode. This is all operated from a single button on the top of the head torch. The Swift RL is fully charged in 6 hours and you can bring a spare battery with you. For my use, this isn’t needed, but if you’re going to be doing night-long trail runs or mountain adventures, then it’s something to think about. 6. Uses I think I read this thread when originally looking for the SWIFT RL, they do seem to have a good caving rep, I have honestly just found the reactive mode really useful and not sure I would choose a torch without one The headband is reflective for nighttime visibility and its split construction gives you excellent stability during dynamic and intense activities such as mountaineering, trail running, and skiing. We’ll start off the ‘Features’ section where we ended the previous one. The Swift RL’s ‘Reactive Lighting’ technology results in a longer burn time (or battery life), and requires less manual adjustment. The light sensor automatically adjusts brightness and beam pattern depending on the current level of light in the environment. This optimises battery usage and keeps the head torch going for longer. If you’d prefer something a bit more traditional, you can switch to a ‘Standard Lighting’ mode.

Trying to extend your outdoor activities into the dark hours can be quite a daunting task without proper lighting. The Swfit is said to be “weather resistant”. This is not waterproof although I have taken the torch out in Scottish rain and it seems to remain operative. The beams are virtually the same on both modes, so once it’s switched on, you don’t really know which you’re in. Now to the reactive beam itself. Well, it does seem like a great idea. The battery is only used to the extent that you require a beam. Except, I have found a few flaws.
