Yes, the quality and efficiency of the clean is similar. The motor in the brushes are slightly different, but not significant. The iO Series 4 has a modern design and a quiet motor. It’s a more affordable iO model, but the smart features are not required and don’t do as much as you might expect. Those that connect to the Oral-B app will show a percentage level on-screen too. Only the iO9 and 10’s travel cases offer in the case charging

All iO models have a reminder system built into the app and the brush handle. How this reminder is displayed differs. Despite a real need to move to more sustainable approaches, it is common practice for electric brushes not to be user serviceable. The iO5 is no exception. Although both have 5 cleaning modes, they are different. The iO5 has daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense and whitening, whilst the iO6 has daily clean, sensitive, intense, whitening and gum care. The iO5 has super sensitive whilst the iO6 has gum care. This is because you have an onscreen timer to guide you. The idea is you spend 20 seconds per zone, to realise the even clean.I think it is all based around the logic (I might be wrong) that by seeing the on-screen visual and having to actively think about it a bit more, you do a better job of cleaning. Simply put, you don’t need so many. Daily Clean is more than sufficient for most. But, the Sensitive mode can be a nice extra to have for those days the teeth and gums might feel a little more tender. For me, the fancy charging stand isn’t too big a factor. If bathroom visuals are important to you, maybe the magnetic stand is worth paying for. Otherwise, you can get by just fine with the cheaper stand.

It sits upright on a countertop and gives a home for spare and replacement heads. A removable opaque cap protects them whilst allowing airflow inside to dry wet bristles. From an overall space point of view, I don’t believe there is really a great deal in it between the case for the Series 7 and 9. I haven’t done the maths. For me what makes this toothbrush interesting is the fact you can fast charge it, a more compact design and its quieter. Thanks again Reply

In the box, you’ll get the iO Series 4 handle and a brush head, a simple white plastic travel case and a charging stand. The stand is the same as the one you get with a classic Oral-B brush. You can use them interchangeably. In the US, the charger has a standard two-pin plug and in the UK, it has a shaver plug. Oral-B has decades of experience that have gone into making the iO4’s brushing results as good as they are. The Series 9 has 7 cleaning modes (daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense, whitening, gum care & tongue clean) compared to the 5 of the Series 7 (daily clean, sensitive, intense, whitening & gum care). The extra modes the iO9 has are super sensitive and tongue clean.

Instead, the protuberance on the top of the stand will fit into the recess on the base of the iO5’s handle and will recharge the brush in up to 16 hours. This comparison has more detail – although to be fair, I am comparing the iO Series 9 vs the X in this comparison. ReplyI found this out the hard way, as there is no mention of this in any literature or Specification information. The vast majority of electric toothbrushes produce 60-70 decibels (dB) of sound in use. Most Oral-B models operate around 75dB.
