New Internal Hopper Design: The internal design of the bean hopper is designed to allow a better flow of whole beans into the grinding chamber. Measurements were done with Jonathan Gagne's app, pictures taken with a DSLR, and lens correction applied with Photoshop. Note that these densities are weighted by the grind size assuming mass proportional to volume, same as the grind size app. So it's not the number of particles of a particular size but rather the mass of the coffee found in grounds of that size. Used the same numbers/formulas as that app so these measurements aren't without their caveats. However I think the relative comparisons are still useful. Burrs: The Ode Gen 2 comes with the Ode Gen 2 burrs installed. The Gen 2 burrs have increased extraction from light-roasted coffees. the grind range is from 250 microns and higher. The Gen 1 burrs are 550 microns and higher.

Ode knows exactly when the last bean has been ground and automatically shuts itself off. No more awful revving noise when your grinder spins on empty. When looking at grinders, the big 3 contenders for me around my price point were the Fellow Ode + SSP Burrs, OE's Apex Hand Brew Grinder, or another Baratza Vario. Ultimately from my research I went with the Ode + Burrs. A larger catch cup that can hold 100g of ground coffee, enough for 12 cups of brewed coffee at the golden ratio.Ode is built to dominate brewed coffee. Unfortunately, that means that Ode is not suitable for espresso. The grind range on Ode will not be fine enough (<200 microns for espresso). Ode’s 64mm flat burrs and motor are geared towards drip and immersion coffee brewing. Exterior: We recommend using a non-abrasive damp cloth to wipe down the exterior and load bin of Opus. If you love making ridiculously good at home, then the Ode is a perfect choice! A home grinder that promises to be quiet, accurate, easy to clean and has cafe grinding capabilities.
