About this deal

Once upon a time a woman couldn’t stay pregnant, and she was very sad about that. Everything changed on the day she welcomed an old lady into her home. When she was going away, she gave the woman a unique and rare gift. It was a seed that hid a special secret. After a while, the seed became a flower and then a girl small as a thumb. The woman named her Thumbelina. The 2002 animated film The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina is loosely based on the fairy tale. [13] Mattel's Barbie: Thumbelina from 2009 was also presented as a modern retelling of the story, while its plot has little-to-nothing to do with Andersen's tale. [14] A woman wants to have a child. She wishes a Fairy for this. The Fairy sells her a seed, tells her to plant it and when the seed will have grown into a flower, there will be a child inside it. The woman finds a girl in the flower when it has grown. The girl is barely 1 inch high. So small. That's why the woman named her Thumbelina . She is also called Little Tiny. One day, a toad kidnaps her to marry Tiny with her son. But the tiny escapes from being married to the toad's son. And from here onwards, she meets the animal who wants to marry her with another animal whom she doesn't like. Again, she escapes from it by the help of swallow who she has helped when he was wounded. The mole now stopped up the hole through which the daylight shone, and then accompanied the ladies home. But during the night Thumbelina could not sleep; so she got out of bed and wove a large, beautiful carpet of hay. She carried it to the dead bird and spread it over him, with some down from the flowers which she had found in the field mouse’s room. It was as soft as wool, and she spread some of it on each side of the bird, so that he might lie warmly in the cold earth.

Once there was a woman who longed for a child of her own. So she went to a witch to ask for help. ‘Old witch,’ she said. ‘I would dearly like to have a child of my own. Can you help me?’ Poor little creature!’ said the field-mouse, for she was a kind-hearted old thing at the bottom. ‘Come into my warm room and have some dinner with me.’The two fall instantly in love, and get married. The fairy king does not like the name "Thumbelina".

Tweet-weet! tweet-weet!” A voice suddenly sounded over her head. She looked up; it was the swallow, who was just flying by. As soon as he saw Thumbelina he was very glad; and she told him how unwilling she was to have the ugly mole for her husband, and that she would have to live deep under the earth, where the sun never shone. She could not help crying about it. The tiny creature woke very early in the morning and began to cry bitterly when she found where she was, for she could see nothing but water on every side of the large green leaf, and no way of reaching the land. The birds who had sung in the trees fl ew away. The leaves withered and dropped and Thumbelina shivered with cold. Snow began to fall. Every snowflake that fell felt like a shovelful on tiny Thumbelina. She wrapped herself in a dry leaf but that did not warmher. One of the columns had fallen and lay on the ground, in pieces. In between the broken pieces, beautiful white flowers grew. ‘My nest is high up on a marble column, but you will be better down here, on one of these flowers,’ the swallow told Thumbelina. ‘I should like that,’ Thumbelina said.
