About this deal

This high-quality, safety-certified 12V power adaptor manufactured by myVolts is 100% compatible with your Sky Router. The extension cable would work (and I have one of those) but it they don't look great laying along the edge of the carpet/wall. I was hoping to hide the cable under the carpet.

There are four Sky Q boxes, and the broadband hub. The main box is the Sky Q 1TB, which is the default box given to anyone taking out a new Sky Q subscription. When you have an upgrade to Sky Q the Sky installer or indepdent satellite engineer will change your own quad LNB to a wideband LNB. Instead of doing this a dSCR LNB could be installed instead. There are a few models available but some have separate legacy outputs that will allow you to connect extra standard Sky or Freesat boxes. When you have the Sky Q box connected to the dSCR output on the LNB with a single cable. You need to set the Q box to single feed mode as described at the bottom of the blog. Sky's 4K Formula 1 content easily matches the football for quality. Details on the race helmets and the logos on the cars are clearly visible, and the shots of cars cornering are wonderfully stable and composed. From the night racing in Bahrain to the sun-drenched Monaco circuit, the consistency of the image is superb.

Could you send me a clear image of the DC-input and spec label please? Send your images to lou AT myvolts DOT com and I'll see if we have anything suitable! The main Sky Q boxes feature 12 tuners (though three are 'dormant'), allowing you to record or watch those seven simultaneous shows. They support Dolby Atmos and have HDMI, 2 x USB 2.0, digital optical, ethernet and wireless connections. As mentioned, they support simultaneous viewing on two tablets and two Sky Q Mini boxes. We actually have no info on your particular device, but if you send me a clear photo of its spec label and DC input port I'll see if we have something suitable for you.

Step 2:There will be an initial setup message on your TV, and you will need to press “Home” on your Sky Q remote. As it stands, the only way to use wireless is to use the Sky Q wireless mesh as set up during installation. This has both a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz network. In most cases, the 2.4GHz network is used to provide a wireless hotspot if you have Sky broadband, but it can also be used for TV data sent to the Mini boxes. Actual streaming takes place over the 5GHz network, as this has the required bandwidth. Mentioning as there seem to be two threads on Trust Pilot, one for sky in general and the one I have tioned specifically for sky Q. How to fix Sky Q connectivity issues: Sky Q is, hands down, the best premium TV service you can buy. With the addition of Sky Q Mini boxes around the house, you can get all of your content around the house. True. However my connection is currently working quite happily over WiFi, so for me personally I don't really care about / need Powerline. Obviously other people may find Powerline more reliable than WiFi and hopefully live in an area that is not susceptible to mains power surges!

One of the main sources of interference is your Wi-Fi router. Although the 5GHz band isn’t very congested, there can still be issues and, as I mentioned, it’s possible that 2.4GHz interference is causing problems. That being said the Sky+ would still work fine with one cable and the Sky box set to single feed mode, you just wouldn’t be able to record one programme and watch another. This isn’t the case with the Sky Q box as it needs two satellite cables connected to a wideband LNB. This is because the two signals are not identical like with Sky+ and Freesat+. With Sky Q one cable provides the vertical polarised signals and the other provides the horizontal signals, with one cable you will only get half of the services. But like I already said it is possible to Sky Q on one cable with no loss of services using dSCR technology. Remotes should not be stored in warm places. For example not on top of the Sky Box or other electrical equipment. They should be handled with care. Delve down to the more leftfield ones at the bottom of the EPG and things get fuzzy around the edges but, on the mainstream channels that you’ll likely watch 99 per cent of the time, quality is excellent, particularly on Sky’s own channels.
