About this deal

The art was just oodles of fun! I love love the style. How it feels like it was really made by a child. Playful. Colourful. Hope that makes sense. Development Matters (2021) Communication and Language Encourage children to talk about a problem together and come up with ideas for how to solve it. Give children problem-solving words and phrases, such as ‘so that’, ‘because’, ‘I think it’s…’, ‘you could…’, ‘it might be…’. The resource aims to provide educators and parents with a range of activities and resources to help children learn about maps. What skills can children learn from using this resource?

Finally I had the chance to read this one! I had my eyes on it for a while, then one of my libraries got in their collection… but apparently it went missing as it is still not on any shelves, and then I just decided to get it in English. XD Development Matters (2021) Understanding the World Share non-fiction texts that offer an insight into contrasting environments. Introduce terminology – ‘city’, ‘town’, ‘village’, ‘community’, ‘urban’, ‘rural’. Discuss what they mean and what experience children have of these places. Leigh Hodgkinson has written and illustrated picture books for Orchard, Bloomsbury, Nosy Crow, and Simon and Schuster. She has been shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize twice, and longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal four times. Journey through the day to bedtime in this lovely, simple book, which reminds little ones that their adults love to spend time with them, and that they are always safe and loved. With useful sleep guidance at the end, too. Een ideaal boek dat past bij onderbouwthema's als huizen, wonen, ruimte en ook zeker rekenonderdelen bevat. a book to be shared, scanned and promotes deep book talk between the reader and listener...it takes this book to reflect how a community impacts the growth of one young life." - Amy Greatex, Reading for Pleasure, The Open University Diane Boyd is a senior lecturer, early years, at Liverpool John Moores University, [email protected]. Discuss how children travel to nursery. Do an audit by introducing simple tally or bar charts. If lots of children travel by car, you could organise a ‘walk to nursery day’. All in all, I am so happy I got the chance to read this book and add it to my collection! I would recommend this to all~

This book would be a great addition to any school library or reading corner... It could be used to support KS1 topics in geography and maths, such as local area mapping, towns and cities, geographical scale, and as a general introduction to map work. A really fun book for young readers." - Books for Topics I mean this in the best possible way and with absolutely no disrespect to Leigh Hodgkinson. It's actually really challenging for a grown-up to convincingly make art that looks like it was created by a child. Leigh has mastered this and it's a huge part of this story's appeal. It will encourage readers to get creative and make their own maps - and their own books too.
