About this deal

Some elements were really horror-like in this novel and I would only suggest letting kids read this who have a natural tendency to seek scary stuff out. Sorrel Fallowfield, 11, is good at following the rules at school, and she's certain that she'll win the competition for the most obedient child, and get some vacations in Portugal with her mum.

Cool, Mum!' I said, squeezing her hand. 'If she's thinking about it, that's a good thing, isn't it?' Queer: A Graphic History, Written by Dr. Meg-John Barker,Illustratedby Julia Scheele (Politics & Social Sciences book, not targeted for young adult readers) Sorrel Fallowfield is so good at being good that teachers come to her when they need help remembering the school rules – and there are LOTS. I’ve been reading Kenneth OppelGanymede: Where the story begins. It is one of Jupiter's moons and home to people who are protected from the Mycora by the Immunity.

Though botany is one of my least favorite and unessential things to know (in my life) I liked the educational content of the novel. Oppel has definitely done his research and brought it to the table unless he is just naturally a plant whizz. I also like how he writes very matter of factly w/o down washing terms of crises. He writes realistically about these issues even though it is a fictional thriller.

Ari not knowing what he wanted to do in life. I think that this uncertainty is almost universal in teens and I appreciated its portrayal. that being said, this was the only thing I liked about Ari’s character. The invasion begins--but not as you'd expect. It begins with rain. Rain that carries seeds. Seeds that sprout--overnight, everywhere. These new plants take over crop fields, twine up houses, and burrow below streets. They bloom--and release toxic pollens. They bloom--and form Venus flytrap-like pods that swallow animals and people. They bloom--everywhere, unstoppable. Tosca Lehne – Another crewmember. One of the inventors of the t-balance, which coats the outside of the Pasteur with the purpose of making it appear to be part of the Mycosystem.
