About this deal

Composing RoboCop, a new tribute to composer Basil Poledouris featuring film music experts Jeff Bond, Lukas Kendall, Daniel Schweiger and Robert Townson

Robocop walks past a frosted window then shows a spike extending from his fist to a worried looking man. Sadly the sequels couldn't maintain quality, but in their own ways, they still manage to entertain. I admittedly am a RoboCop 2 defender and RoboCop 3 is a hoot in a so-bad-it's-amazing sort of way. I have a lot of love for this franchise. I've always hoped for another proper entry but after the earnest but less than amazing remake and Neil Blomkamp's recent departure from what was reported as a proper sequel to this original - I fear we'll never get something with this level of amazing detail, humor, and ultra-violence. At least not anything that stands alongside this original's quality. But that's okay - nothing can take away from this film's imprint on popular culture - and my childhood!" unlike anything anybody had ever seen before, and, really, unlike anything anybody would ever see again. In addition, Arrow was able to source a new 4K scan of the extra footage found in the Director’s Cut, so those moments look better than they previously did. (The original elements for those trims are long gone, so those moments can never be restored to their original quality, barring something being found in a box somewhere.) on the RoboCop: Edited For Television featurette on this release. The full TV Cut was transferred from an original DigiBeta broadcast master tape. In the near future, the city of Detroit is in financial ruin and the streets are overrun with violent crime. Criminals control neighborhoods, selling drugs, robbing stores, and violating innocent people walking home. And they do it without fear of the police since they're at the point of bankruptcy. In a desperate measure to save the city, the mayor signed a deal with major conglomerate Omni Consumer Products (OCP), allowing the corporation complete authority of the department. It's the first step in an effort by the company to transform a dystopia into an autonomous, utopic corporate city-state called "Delta City." But first, OCP must clean up the streets to attract other businesses and low-wage workers, which means designing some kind of super cop with the latest technological advancements.

A faithful take on Shelley’s story, the film follows Frankenstein, a brilliant scientist, who tries to cheat death by bringing a ‘man’ he’s assembled from assorted body parts to life, but only succeeds in creating a monster. The Boardroom (SD, 6 min) — With commentary by animator Phil Tippett, this is a storyboard comparison of the scene that introduces ED-209's grand entrance into the OCP boardroom.

Limited edition collectors' booklet featuring new writing on the film by Omar Ahmed, Christopher Griffiths and Henry Blyth I won’t run down the rest of the extras found on both discs. You can revisit my earlier review to see everything, since Arrow didn’t commission anything new for this set. Suffice it to say that there’s an enormous amount of bonus content found here, with a big batch of new extras that were created for the 2019 release along with a lot of legacy content that was ported over too.
