I've had this for at least a couple years now and it's been great for my use: solo acoustic act in small local bars. The guitar and vocal effects sound great. I've been using it almost every weekend and it works as well as it did on day one. My set up is simple. I have one pre-set with a little reverb and chorus on the guitar. A little of the "vocal enhancer" and reverb on the voice. The harmony effect may be slightly less natural sounding then what is available from TC Helicon (I have a Harmony Singer as well) but nothing your average bar patron will notice. I use the harmony feature sparingly so you can barely hear it but it adds a little punch to a chorus. I will loop my guitar a few times a night. Once I had it dialed in where I wanted it's been plug-and-pay every time. Looper function with 80 seconds of recording time and the ability to loop guitar and vocals independently

The Guitar Chorus and Delay are OK, but you can only use one or the other. Why? If you're going to give us three effects why can't we use all three. There are some songs where I want Rev, DLY and Chorus. Can't do it on the VE-8. However, the vocal processor side of this pedal is INCREDIBLE!! Played for several people last night and everyone was dazzled by the different harmonies you can get. I played for about seven hours yesterday trying the pedal on a variety of songs. This could be very useful in a chorus for example where you need a sudden change both in the guitar and vocal sound. You'll find it easy to get professional, studio-level vocal sounds right away. First the good. The Boss VE-8 has the best I/O of any pedal out on the market today. It has both Stereo/Mono XLR Vocal output and a separate Stereo/Mono TS/TSR Guitar output. And the outputs can be configured to your liking. The Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer is full of unique features, one of which is the ability to record and control loops as well as vocal harmonies. The custom-designed looper within the VE-8 allows you to lay down everything from percussive rhythms to chord progressions and vocal runs. The looper works by using the dedicated footswitch to record and stop the loop function. You can select to loop your guitar or voice individually or both via the the panel buttons, or with an optional footswitch. Useful hidden features like three band EQ (with high pass filter and Q and center frequency adjustment). For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs.Now, you may have noticed that I didn’t mention any of the effects that do things like make it sound as if you’re singing through a radio or telephone. All of these pedals offer vocal effects in that realm; however, I find that these effects usually are more fun for the performers than the listeners… so I’ll leave it up to you to investigate the possibilities in this realm, if it interests you. I'm still playing around with the guitar side on the VE-8 to determine if I like the effects better than my amp's on-board effects. The Play Acoustic isn’t far behind in guitar tone though. BodyRez is pretty nice, especially when you turn on its advanced settings and start tweaking your EQ. As a result, you can get a pretty solid tone. It’s not going to sound as natural is the VE-8’s “acoustic resonance”, but, overall, you can get a decent tone with a bit of punch to it. This is a great vocal and acoustic guitar processor that can be used for live playing connected to a PA system, for recording using the USB computer interface, and for practice sessions for yourself or with a band. The vocal processing includes multiple reverb, delay, multiple harmonies, and pitch correction enhancement. They all sound great and the effects can be mixed with the lead vocal as needed.
