About this deal

Don't judge a book by its cover... well; don't judge a perfume by its opening. I love the smell of fig leaf and I love cocoa as well, should they be together? Maybe not. As soon as you spray Kokorico those two notes start to fight each other for some minutes. In the meanwhile I was thinking, 'oh God, what have I've done', because this was a wild blind buy. Ok. This one is a serious trip for me. I bought this fragrance about 2 weeks ago off someone online. Upon spraying, It smelled like the worst pine cleaner-went stale smell I'd ever smelled. I flipped out on the guy who sold it to me, not La pelea dura algunos minutos y de ahí vienen las opiniones negativas. The name is so silly that I would certainly consider a man who'd display a bottle of "Kokorico" on his bathroom-shelf a trifle weird. "Doodle-doo" or "Kokorico" in French is a men's perfume released by Gaultier in 2011 - and this fragrance was given considerable attention because because of its bottle, its name and the advertising campaign related to it. That sounded hopeful, that sounded like Habenwill - I had to ask to make sure I had understood him correctly.

For me, personally, this is the male equivalent of ThierryMugler Womanity; completely polarising, what I term a 'Marmite' fragrance... you either love it or hate it! This fragrance is a great subtle fragrance. This is for people that really want to smell something out of the norm that does not carry a heavy price tag, and does not shout "I am HERE!!" Don't blind buy this one. I really like and enjoy it, but it is not the charismatic guy everybody likes, it's the bold one that says 'this is me, whether you like it or not', only few people will love, not like him. The bigger message - it is OK to be different - it is what makes the "world go around". If the longevity and projection/sillage were greater, this would be a first class fragrance. All things considered, I still highly recommend adding to your collection. I am a fig fiend. I love just about every fragrance that I’ve ever smelled containing fig, particularly fig leaf. I think fig leaf has a beautifully green, outdoorsy – sweet & sour smell. It’s really sharp, and it is a great scent to play against on the fragrance canvas because it responds so well to being mixed with base scents. KN is a beautiful example of that. I must say that I think the original Kokorico is also excellent, however this is my favorite of the two. We understand that everybody needs an affordable men's fragrance that they can wear daily without feeling guilty about using up the entire bottle in the space of a couple of weeks. This is why we have many different scents which are available at competitive prices. However, if you are a guy who likes his designer brands, then we have some great affordance fragrances available from brands such asPaco Rabanne,Viktor & Rolf, andHugo Boss.

But the marketing of fragrances has to operate on an international scale today, and I doubt that German, British or Chinese men or women consider the rooster's wake-up call a plausible name for a scent. The man, who is rarely enthusiastic about the fragrances I test, which I wear, said "Ferragamo pour Homme", which he liked many years ago, followed sometime by "Tuscan Leather", "Fields of Rubus" - my memory doesn't give much more. The opening is interesting. I had never smelled rhubarb in a fragrance before, but I can definitly detect it, a natural-smelling rhubarb on the opening, slightly citric and sweet. It lasts for about 30 min, then comes the delicious cocoa + patchouli combo, which reminds me a bit of a younger brother of l'Instant Extreme from Guerlain. I prefer this one to LIEDG actually, both scent-wise (in the heart + drydown notes) and perfomance wise. Kokorico by Night is a performance beast, a good choice as a clubbing scent. This lasts about 8 hours on me, and even after a whole evening of frenetic clubbing I could smell it on me in the morning through my hangover lol. Kokorico" seems to me to be the forerunner of fragrances like Sentifiques "Testostérone", Diors "Sauvage" and all the powerhouses whose virility often overflows buses, trains, supermarkets. I think this can definitely be a unisex perfume even though it's very masculine and not too sweet. To me, this is like if you took Mugler's Angel and stripped away EVERYTHING except the chocolate note and the patchouli and removed whatever mystery factor it has that makes exactly 50% of the population adore it and the other 50% HATE it, and replaced it with a cozy, comforting fig note that no one would dare complain about, you would get something like this. kk i ve had this for 2 weeks now. blind bought it because this was never introduced to the north american market and the price was good. i knew about all the hate for this fragrance but since im a huge fan of JPG and having owned le male, fleur le male and gaultier 2 i owed it to myself to try this one out. oh boy am i glad i did and quiet frankly i dont get the hate. Off skin and in the air, it's a different story. After a 5 second burst of pungency, it goes to a shaving cream like vibe and progresses to show cocoa facets further on. The cocoa is partnered by a hefty dose of greenness owing to fig leaf and patchouli. The drydown is almost entirely patchouli.
