About this deal

A week after losing her big brother to suicide, Laura’s parents buy her a pet tiger. They never explain the tiger and never discuss Laura’s big brother. Not ever. It’s like Laura’s big brother didn’t exist. And having a pet tiger is illegal for a reason. Soon things start to spiral out of control… as things tend to do with feelings of grief… and tigers… In 2021, our Time to Read book – which will be given to every Reception-aged child in England and Wales - is I Am A Tigerby Karl Newson and Ross Collins. Relationships: Due to their negative attitude, the singles would not like to dress up to attract a potential girlfriend/ boyfriend, or attend a blind date, hence very likely stay available. For those married, their marriage would be stable because the two sides could understand and compromise to each other.

I love Tiger as much as anyone who grew up watching him. I think he influenced us both tremendously as people who like golf and as athletes in general. I love this stuff. But it’s worth remembering that there are a lot of people who don’t feel the same way. Those people probably would have a hard time sitting through this whole ad — they’d think it preposterous. Oliver Emanuel was selected for Accelerator in June 2019 and offered funding to research and develop a new piece of writing for young audiences: I Am Tiger. I Am TigerIt tells the story of Laura, who is given a pet tiger by her parents a month after losing her big brother to suicide. They never explain the tiger and never discuss Laura’s big brother. Not ever. It’s like Laura’s big brother didn’t exist. And having a pet tiger is illegal for a reason. Soon things start to spiral out of control, as things tend to do with feelings of grief… and tigers… I want to write a one-person play for 10yrs+ from the point of view of a girl – and her tiger – to explore ideas about mental health and why it is so difficult to talk about. And how crazy it is to keep wild animals as pets. Wealth: This year, their salary may not be enough to cover their increasing expense. Maybe they could find a part-time job to fill in the gap. The businessmen born in the year of the Tiger would be satisfied about their profits, just in case of losses caused by the competitors.

I am a tiger,” declares the main character of this story – although anyone looking at the pictures would probably say they are actually a mouse. I do think that Earl went too far in predicting Tiger’s impact off the golf course. Sure, he became an international superstar, but I don’t think he had quite the impact as a global healer that Earl predicted. Nobody reasonably could. I doubt Nike regrets promoting that side of Earl’s vision, though, because Tiger’s identity truly was a powerful part of his story, especially in that moment. You can read Oliver's blog about writing his new play and reflecting on his research into how to talk to children about death. Lu Kemp, Artistic Director of Perth Theatre and playwright Oliver Emanuel, talk about the show in the interview below. Newson’s writing is brisk and bright. Done entirely in dialogue, this book begs to be shared aloud with children. Children will love the confident little mouse and his ability to make ludicrous claims and stand by them. Mouse is a great character, becoming all the more interesting when he discovers he isn’t really a tiger after all. The twist at the end is a delight that doesn’t discourage Mouse in the least. The illustrations by Collins are large and colorful. They help tell the full story of what is happening and carry a lot of the humor too. This work has been developed and supported by the Scottish Government’s Festivals Expo Fund and Imaginate’s Accelerator programme. Accelerator is supported by the PLACE programme, funded by the Scottish Government (through Creative Scotland), the City of Edinburgh Council and the Edinburgh Festivals. With the uncommon courage and confidence, people born in the Year of the Tiger are natural leaders and they can always bravely put brilliant ideas into practice. They are also generous, passionate and holding a strong sense of justice. When meeting the weak or see anything unfair, the Tigers stand up and offer help. Tiger Women: Tiger women are good at taking care of family members. They are loved by children and can always get along well with them by playing games and telling stories. They also enjoy life and you may find them in various parties and outdoor activities. Rather than keeping alone, they prefer to stay with people. Dethier: My sense from talking to colleagues is that Earl was a great quote and an entertaining extension of Tiger. But my sense is also that Tiger himself — never mind Earl — wasn’t taken as seriously as he should have been by the game’s insiders. I think Curtis Strange’s “you’ll learn” interview represented the skepticism of Tour vets. Earl was predicting that something was about to happen that had essentially never happened before, and he was predicting it WAY in advance. It’s hard to know whether to give him credit for being right or to give Tiger even more credit for overcoming the weight of Earl’s expectations.

Not to pander to GOLF Magazine fans here, but I’m reading Michael Bamberger’s Men In Green right now and he has a particularly relevant quote from Arnold Palmer (a man decidedly more qualified than I am on the subject). You can’t be a tiger, the other animals say, tigers are bigger, they have more Grrrr, they have stripes, and they can climb trees. Mouse is not to be deterred, however: Mouse is a tiger. Mouse says tigers can be small; some have stripes but this one doesn’t (“so there”); and Mouse could definitely climb a tree (but not right now). If your child loves this cheeky story of a confident mouse who believes in himself, no matter what anyone else says, here are some other books to try… There will be a creative writing workshop and resources available to support pupils and teachers on the themes raised in this show. Let me put the question to you, then: Is anybody in the wrong here? Earl? Nike? Tiger? Us viewers? Tiger’s doubters? Was this ad campaign a good thing, a bad thing, a neutral thing? How should WE feel about it all?Tiger Men: Most of the Tiger men are optimistic and ambitious at work. They are not satisfied with the status quo and strive for excellence. Even encountering difficulties, the Tigers will not give up easily and just go forward. Besides, they never break promises once giving their words.

Newson's fearless tone and Collins' humorous illustrations are a winning combination. This is one terrific book.” Kirkus But what will Mouse say when an actual tiger appears? Mouse has an excellent answer: Tiger is not a tiger; Tiger is a mouse! Twitchy nose, little hands and feet, cheese for breakfast: yup, definitely a mouse. And Mouse has some interesting descriptions for the other animals too…A week after the death of her big brother, Laura’s parents buy her a pet tiger. They never explain the tiger and won't discuss her brother. Now that she’s having to learn to live with a dangerous animal every step becomes a tiptoe, every word becomes a whisper, and things are starting to spiral out of control.
