I also liked the animation in Godmothered and still cannot understand what everyone else found so objectionable. I went in expecting outright incompetence!) The premise was good but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Some of the characters had nothing to do. Robert is the most prime example, and I thought it would have been more interesting if he had died before the movie started. I also thought that Nancy wasn't really necessary to the climax and it was obvious she was only there to give Idina a song. Overall, I didn't hate it but didn't love it, it was really just serviceable in my opinion. I might watch it one more time, but I don't expect it to be a movie I watch often or even a third time. Yes, the costumes were actually not bad in general. I feel bad I criticized them so much at first. The production design was quite good too. There were a couple of moments where it was obvious they tried to save money (like the dragon they barely showed), but for the most part, it looked like a theatrical movie to me. I thought the movie was just okay, better than most of what Disney has released in the last five years, but I still thought it was run of the mill, and on the level of a DTV or a Disney Channel movie. Also, perhaps I am alone on this, but I am not too fussy about characters being "on model." I can live with off-model characters as long as other elements are ok. I agree with Duster that the middle part is the least enjoyable as it feels longer than it actually is. I too think Robert's storyline was the weakest and needed more thought put into it. Given what the implications of Giselle's wish are, I feel it should have involved him being in mortal danger as dead parents is another one of fairytale tropes. And poor baby Sofia served no real purpose in the story other than to introduce the magic wand. Then she was just forgetten lol. Overall, it was quite good and compliments Enchanted quite well. I'd be happy if this remained a duology.
