Odette offers to show Daniel the forest and the elves bring fruit and flowers and Odette is given a new dress They dance gracefully, and afterward Daniel asks Odette and the elves to come with him at the castle saying they would be safe but Odette tells him they can't, not just because of the spell but because they have to stay and protect the forest. Before long, the sun comes up and Odette transforms into a swan.

He loves Odette from the first time he meets her, however he is fooled by Rothbart who uses magic to help Odile impersonate Odette, with whom Daniel dances with at the ball. He is based on Siegfried from the ballet. Erasmus finds the book and reveals that the key to defeating Rothbart is true love. However, if Daniel falls for another girl, the magic crystal will lose its power and Odette will die. Rothbart abducts Erasmus and the book. While Odette rescues Erasmus, Rothbart attends the ball with Odile, magically disguised as Odette. Odette flies to the castle in her swan form to warn Daniel, but is too late; Daniel pledges his love to Odile, causing Odette to collapse. Meanwhile Prince Daniel, the prince, living in the castle in Odette's village, is introduced. A spirited man, he prefers exploring rather than marriage, much to the dismay of his mother, who wants him to settle down and have a wife and children, especially with the upcoming ball.
