A short stepladder is ideal, though a kitchen chair will do if that’s all you have available. With your curtain pole in place, it’s time to hang the curtains themselves! Here are our tips for hanging eyelet curtains… First of all, decide where you want your curtains to sit: above the windowsill, below it or on the floor. Once you’re happy with the width and the gather, secure your cords by tying them. Don’t cut off the cords as you may want to make alterations or change the gather. Pencil Pleat - Ideal for short curtains as standard ready made pencil pleat curtains have a heading that is only 3” deep. Available in 6” deep for longer curtains. At the other end where the cords are unsecured, take hold of the cords and gently pull them to begin the gathering process. Try to do this evenly so the finished effect will look even and neat.For pencil pleat curtains that drop to above the windowsill, measure from the eye of the ring, down to the top of the sill and take 1cm (0.5 inch) off this measurement for the perfect drop.
