About this deal

If you're taking the tablet that melts in your mouth, put it on your tongue, let it dissolve and then swallow. You do not need to drink any water. Ibuprofen is combined with other painkillers in some products. It's an ingredient in some cold and flu remedies, such as Nurofen Cold and Flu. If you have not told your doctor about any of the above, tell him/her before you start taking Nurofen Plus.

It's fine to take ibuprofen with paracetamol. You can also take it alongside opioid-type painkillers such as codeine, co-codamol, tramadol or morphine. However, don't take ibuprofen with painkilling doses of aspirin, or with other related anti-inflammatory painkillers (NSAIDs) like diclofenac and naproxen, as this increases the risk of side effects on the stomach and intestines. People taking selective inhibitors of COX-2 such as celecoxib or etoricoxib should not take ibuprofen for the same reason. Follow all directions given to you by your pharmacist or doctor carefully. They may differ from the information contained in this leaflet.Period pain can impact your ability to carry out normal daily activities, including going to school or work. It’s usually worst when it starts (when the period starts or earlier), and tends to go away over the next 2 to 3 days. What causes period pain? COX is involved in making substances in the body known as prostaglandins, in response to injury and in certain diseases and conditions. The prostaglandins cause pain, swelling and inflammation. Ibuprofen reduces inflammation and pain by reducing the production of these prostaglandins.

You may need to take ibuprofen for longer if you have a long-term health problem, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Ibuprofen may reduce the removal of the following medicines from the body and so may increase the risk of side effects of these medicines: Continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you. If you stop having this medicine suddenly, your pain may worsen and you may experience some or all of the following withdrawal symptoms: If you're taking ibuprofen for a short-lived pain like toothache or period pain, you may only need to take it for a day or two.You may develop addiction, dependence and tolerance. For more information, see Section 2. What should I know before I use Nurofen Plus? in the full CMI. 3. What if I am taking other medicines? The risk of GI bleeding, ulceration or perforation is higher with increasing NSAID doses, in patients with a history of ulcer, particularly if complicated with haemorrhage or perforation (see section 4.3), and in the elderly. These patients should commence treatment on the lowest dose available. Nurofen Plus, Contains ibuprofen and codeine, For the short-term treatment of acute, moderate pain which is not considered to be relieved by other analgesics such as paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone. For 3 days use only. May cause addiction. Severe hepatic impairment (see Section 4.4 Special Warnings and Precautions for Use, Use in hepatic impairment).

Hyperalgesia. HyperalgesiaPatients with uncontrolled hypertension, congestive heart failure (NYHA II-III), established ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease should only be treated with ibuprofen after careful consideration and high doses (2400 mg/day) should be avoided. From the 20th week of pregnancy onward, Nurofen use may cause oligohydramnios resulting from foetal renal dysfunction. This may occur shortly after treatment initiation and is usually reversible upon discontinuation. In addition, there have been reports of ductus arteriosus constriction following treatment in the second trimester, most of which resolved after treatment cessation. Therefore, during the first and second trimester of pregnancy, Nurofen should not be given unless clearly necessary. If Nurofen is used by a woman attempting to conceive, or during the first and second trimester of pregnancy, the dose should be kept as low and duration of treatment as short as possible. Antenatal monitoring for oligohydramnios and ductus arteriosus constriction should be considered after exposure to Nurofen for several days from gestational week 20 onward. Nurofen should be discontinued if oligohydramnios or ductus arteriosus constriction are found. During the last trimester of pregnancy (see Section 4.6 Fertility, Pregnancy and Lactation, Use in pregnancy).

medicines such as cyclosporin, tacrolimus, prednisone, prednisolone and cortisone which reduce the activity of your immune system Diarrhoea caused by pseudomembranous colitis or poisoning (until the causative organism or toxin has been eliminated from the gastrointestinal tract, since codeine may slow down the elimination, thereby prolonging the diarrhoea).Microcrystalline cellulose, Sodium starch glycollate, Hypromellose, Pregelatinised maize starch, Talc, Opaspray white colouring All medicines can have side effects. If you do experience any side effects, most of them are minor and temporary. However, some side effects may need medical attention. Ibuprofen also brings down a fever by reducing the production of prostaglandins. Fever is associated with an increase in prostaglandins in the brain, which cause the body temperature to increase. By reducing prostaglandins in the brain, ibuprofen lowers body temperature. When GI bleeding or ulceration occurs in patients receiving ibuprofen, the treatment should be withdrawn.
