The ‘dog’ keeps their eyes closed as the other children pass around a bone (bean bag), while chanting: The objective of Noughts And Crosses Race is to get either three noughts or three crosses in a row either vertically, horizontally or diagonally! The object is to take turns laying down a beanbag on a square and try to make a row of three. The first person to make a row of three vertically, horizontally or diagonally is the winner.

Explain that everyone will be playing a giant version of noughts and crosses. The aim of the game is to be the first team to get three cones into an uninterrupted row on the grid. Level-up by having hoops at different distances and having to throw the bean bag into each hoop to finish. You can even make it a race if there is more than one player. Add extra fun by assigning points to each hoop, based on their position and level of difficulty. 6. BowlingPlace the hula hoop close by for a young child and try some variations for older children – such as laying out various hoops at different distances, standing the hoops up and throwing through the vertical hoops, etc. Turn the music on and dance with your kids while tossing the beanbag to and fro. When the music stops, you all have to freeze in position. Instead of using noughts and crosses, use two different coloured bean bags to represent two players.

Go fishing by aiming and tossing the bean bags at the fish. If the beanbag touches any part of the fish, they have caught the fish. Take turns catching fish. Set out some hula hoops or mark out targets on the ground, and have your child toss the bean bags into the hoops. For beginners, place the hula hoop close to where the child is standing. This is a great gross motor game and can also be mixed with an art activity if you decide to get creative with the cones. 8. Catch During my recent striving for minimalism purge, I destashed all of my fabric. I posted on Facebook offering giant bags of fabric in exchange for one or two sewing projects. It ended up being a great trade and something I’ll likely consider again during our continuing purge. Make things more challenging again by balancing while walking, or making movements while maintaining balance.Speaking for herself, Dame Kelly said: “A struggle to kind of know that you can be accepted and fit in, and still learning every day.” This is a great game for improving gross motor skills, and can also be mixed with an art activity (by decorating the tins). Make this more challenging by changing the rules – hop on one leg to the end, balance two bean bags on your head, race with a bean bag on your ruler, etc. This week, while I am doing the finishing touches on the kids’ exercise room, we had some fun with these 7 indoor bean bag games.
