About this deal

What is this book about? Well, I hope you’re sitting down because it’s about to get real. This was a captivating yet messy story that will make every cell in your body explode. We know that in most fairy tales, once you have a ring on your finger, you’ll live happily ever after. In this story you’ll find out that in real life; it does not work like that. There is no definitive list of “dos or don’ts” or like any easy steps to achieve a happily ever after. If you want a happily ever after then it’s going to take some effort to keep the love burning in a world filled with countless things that can stifle it. That thought plagues me during the entire ride up the elevator to Ethan’s floor. Vincent has been my favorite doorman since Ethan moved into this apartment building. He always smiles and chats with me. But today, he simply held the door open with a stoic expression. Not even a, “Hello, Quinn. How was your trip?” One of Hoover’s most popular titles and the subject of the forthcoming movie starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, It Ends With Us follows Lily, a hardworking business owner who meets a too-good-to-be-true neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid. The two fall dangerously in love, but Lily is left thinking of her first love, Atlas Corrigan, who suddenly reappears in her life, threatening her relationship with Ryle.

Love and Marriage – The novel delves into the complexities of romantic relationships, highlighting the struggles and triumphs of a married couple. Sometimes I look at him and feel such an overwhelming appreciation for him, I almost want to write thank-you notes to our exes." But seeing these two main characters' stories weave and unweave together, apart, and sometimes a weird mixture of the two, made for a really unique reading experience, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed while reading. I know CoHo isn’t for everyone, but her writing always completely captivates me. A love story between writer and muse, November 9 follows Fallon, a girl with a plan to move across the country, who meets Ben, an aspiring novelist. The pair spends Fallon’s last day in L.A. together and vow to return to each other every year on, you guessed it, November 9.As the story proceeds, the pair try to improve on their relationship but their efforts are frequently impeded by their own anxieties and prior traumas. They go to marriage therapy but Quinn is afraid to communicate her genuine sentiments and Graham is unable to articulate his own sorrow and remorse.

I didn’t really like Graham either. He is, in my opinion, one of Hoover’s weakest heroes. And I don’t know if it’s because we didn’t get his POV or whatever but he was just boring. The whole cheating thing—yes, it was cheating and there was really no justification for it—made me dislike him even more. I’m not even going to touch on his asinine reason for doing so but yeah, I wasn’t a fan of Graham at all. Not even his letters could make me like him. The whole idea of basing your entire self-worth on your ability to conceive and being this obsessed with having a child is foreign to me. I don’t think it is my purpose in life to have a child. Quite frankly, I find that to be a disgusting statement. I understand that there are people who want children, and that infertility is a traumatic experience for some – which is why I said this book wasn’t written for me. I think my favorite thing about this book was that there wasn’t any fairytale deus-ex-machina-style fix to the problems that this couple faced. I loved that the way they worked through it actually was about how they dealt with it and, rather than finding a magical way around it. It felt so much more real and believable because of this. I’m trying to be as vague as possible to keep this spoiler free but I think you’ll see exactly what I mean when you read it. If BookTok is doing its job right, you’ve heard of Colleen Hoover many, many times over. The bestselling author is the reigning queen of the young adult romance genre, with hits like Verity and It Ends With Us. The latter is currently being adapted into a feature film starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni—but production is currently on hold due to the writer’s strike. Solidarity, hooray! We immediately understand that this is a woman who wants to have a child desperately but can’t and it’s slowly tearing her on the inside that she can’t and is barely holding on. Quinn’s POV benefited a lot from Hoover’s sparse but emotional prose which captured Quinn’s pain so well.

Another muffled scream makes its way through the door. The guy next to me cringes and covers his ears. I cover mine, too. We sit like this for a while. Both of us refusing to allow the noises to penetrate our ears until it’s over. It won’t last long. Ethan can’t last more than a few minutes.

I think I’m masochistic and I’ll discuss this with my new and 18th shrink: because anytime I start one of your works: I just cry. Even looking at the cover create same affect on me. After I read “ Slammed” I cried for two days and after reading Hopeless, I started to throw things against my wall when I’m replying the word “ Why” like a barking dog. After “ November 9” my cries turned into howling.

Communication and Trust – The novel emphasizes the significance of open communication and trust in maintaining a healthy relationship. I easily and effortlessly fell in love with Quinn. Everything she was going through, and the way that CoHo wrote about it, felt like such an accurate depiction of depression. I felt for her constantly and my heart is still filled with so much empathy for this fictional character. the book blurb is a bit ambiguous, so i will keep my review vague as well. i will say, though, that the struggles this couple went through were not something that i have ever read about before, nor was it something that i have experienced personally. regardless, i found it so easy to empathise with these characters and have my heart hurt for them. it took me awhile to warm up to them, quinn in particular, but goodness, how my heart ached for them throughout this. This novel follows the little-bit-strange Voss family, who live in a repurposed church, through the eyes of Merit Voss, the youngest Voss child. Her mother, having recovered from cancer, lives in the basement while her father lives upstairs with his new wife, her mother’s former nurse. When Merit meets the witty Sagan at an antique shop, she is pushed to reveal her family’s dark secrets and choose herself.

Disclaimer: I HAVE read this book. So my judgement is as valid as any of yours. I was polite enough not to rate this one star like it deserves, however that changes now.

We’re also going to have bad days and sad days and days that test our resolve. Those are the days I want you to feel the absolute weight of my love for you.” She must not realize this or she wouldn’t have thrown away her relationship with a guy who impressed me more in one hour than Ethan did in four years.
