About this deal

Don’t worry –– from what I have read, the amount produced here is not of concern. What Kind of Vitamin C to Use for this DIY Swim Spray?

Notes: The essential oils in the spray are mostly for fragrance purposes, but they are nourishing to the skin so they have that added benefit as well. Please note that there is no full spectrum preservative in this product so it might not have a very long shelf life. However, the commercial swim sprays don’t either so the vitamin C itself might be enough. Use your best judgment. Anyhow, this past year we moved into a new (to us) home. One of the lovely things about our new place is that there is a community pool. I didn’t think we’d love it since I’m no longer into sunning myself (I way overdid that in my teen years) and don’t really like chlorine (probably is very similar to the chemical sensitivity that makes me react to artificial fragrances), but this year we have really enjoyed it — especially my boys.

Store your face mist in the refrigerator for up to 1–2 weeks. Use it twice daily after cleansing—shaking well before each use. To protect against mold and bacteria in DIY toner and face mists, add 0.5 mL of Optiphen ND. Correia G, Magina S. Efficacy of topical vitamin C in melasma and photoaging: A systematic review. Some professional-grade brands can be expensive, but keep in mind that a higher price doesn’t necessarily mean a better product. Vitamin C can be found in a variety of whole, plant-based foods like citrus fruits, bell peppers, strawberries, and broccoli ( 1). Vitamin C plays an essential role in the body. Thanks to its antioxidant properties, it has been found to have several benefits, particularly for skin and immune health. Vitamin C may also help protect the skin from harmful ultraviolet rays when used in combination with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Clinical studies have shown that combining vitamin C with other topical ingredients, namely ferulic acid and vitamin E, can diminish redness and help protect the skin from long-term damage caused by harmful sun rays. Use a high quality plastic bottle. Plastic of course to prevent any breakage around the pool area where bare feet could end up with painful slivers in them–high quality so that the optional essential oils and vitamin C won’t or won’t be likely to cause leaching of the plastic. When shopping for a vitamin C supplement, you’ll want to consider quality, dose, and price. You’ll also want to decide on the form of supplement you’re interested in, such as chewable tablets or a powder. Quality Vitamin C does not replace the use of sunscreen or wearing sun-protective clothing. Be sure to use broad-spectrum, tinted sunscreen daily, and limit sun exposure during peak hours.
