About this deal

Don't get me wrong, though; while Zaf was the shining light for me, I adored Danika, too. She isn't my favorite of Talia's heroines (that one's still a toss-up between Ruth Kabbah and Dani's older sister Chloe), but she was certainly fun, and I loved the fact that she was a practicing witch! I related so much to every scene that touched upon her faith and practice, and having never seen a modern witch in a romance book before, I ate it right up. Of course, Dani could be a bit cruel to my sweet Zaf at times, but without spoiling anything, trust me when I say our lovely lady impressed me to no end with how far she progressed. Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits - someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom. Zaf’s palms slid up over her rounded belly, and then his thumbs caressed the sensitive undersides of her breasts.

I enjoyed how Zaf was a sensitive, intelligent, vulnerable romantic man! You don't see that a lot in romance, especially with male sports stars. He was open about his anxiety and grief, about loving romance books, and about wanting his own happy ending. He was so patient with Dani, and really supportive of her, he treated her really well, which just made me fall in love with him! I also liked how Dani was a socially awkward, cynical female with a guarded heart, who struggled with her emotions and feelings, and was slow to open up to people. It was like a role reversal! Together they did make a good pair, they balanced each other out and encouraged each other to be themselves. It was a reoccurring theme throughout the book, that you shouldn't try to change your partner, but accept them as they are.And what's with all the men reading romance in books at the moment?! Its like some trend, I've seen three books with it in now 😂 Is it not enough that Zaf is the perfect man, helping at risks kids deal with their emotions and with toxic masculinity?! *Swoons*

Zafir starts getting fundraising offers for his sports charity for kids. But getting more social awareness he needs to be photographed and tagged with his girlfriend. ( yes, everyone thinks he’s dating with Dani!) So he kindly asks Dani pretend as a couple for the great cause (he only thinks about the future of kids, right?) Dani accepts the offer. But both of them find out: they’re playing with fire. Zafir is romantic, possessive and he still tries to face his traumatic loss of his brother and father. And Dani is emotionally disturbed, rejecting to face her feelings but as long as they spend more time and get to know more about each other, they find out, they cannot stop to fall for each other! I do have to say that Zaf really stole the show for me though! He is the epitome of a soft and grumpy love interest. A big guy, ex rugby player kind of BIG, people are initially intimidated by his size and gruff voice, but deep down? He is a hopeless romantic, an absolute marshmallow. I mean, the guy gives Dani daily protein bars because he knows she doesn’t get time to eat in the morning and she always snatches them out of his hands 🥺 Overall, Take a Hint, Dani Brown is an awesome addition to The Brown Sisters series. If youre a fan of the friends-to-lovers and fake relationship tropes, as well as diverse romance that sits on the steamier side, this is the book for you. I believe what I’m enjoying the most is the wittiness amongst the sisters and Gigi. I love the sisterhood and friendship shown in both books. This second series was just as enjoyable as the first. I love the fact we have this huge man that is Zafir, all physical qualities screams MAN and ALPHA, but he is a huge romanticizing marshmallow. In terms of Dani he is understanding and appreciative of her person. That is so important in a relationship, especially for someone with the insecurities Dani has. She knows who she is yet feels like her personality hinders her from finding love. I can personally relate to that. But when you find a person who loves you, your mind, quirkiness, “faults”& your insecurities, that is a person who sees you. I truly enjoyed their HEA and Dani realization of her capabilities of expressing her love for Zafir.Dani is a cynic when it comes to romance. Despite her fiery and blunt personality, she still comes across as very loveable human. Nevertheless, Zaf is easily my favourite character in the book (and funnily, Red was my favourite in Chloes book). I love that Zafs a romance-reading titan. All he wants is a happy ending. He also suffers from grief and anxiety, which is openly discussed throughout the book, and expertly covered. I found his way of thinking to very relatable and realistic, and his vulnerability is refreshing to read. He comes across as a big, aloof, grouch, but in reality hes a bit of a gentle giant. His goal is to combat toxic masculinity through sports and therapy hes too pure! So yes, there was a lot to love about this book, but I did have some issues! Firstly, the plot kind of stalled in the middle of the book. There wasn't enough drama, and the pace slowed down due to many internal monologues. We knew from the start that Dani didn't do relationships, but I felt like I was being beaten over the head with it, as it was repeated over and over in both character's heads. Ill forever be a fan of Talia Hibberts writing. The way she portrays thought, emotion and awareness always makes her books so compelling! Its difficult not to become wrapped in the lives of these characters because theyre so well-layered and refined. The drama, which occurs in almost every contemporary romance, is very believable. And I think the main reason is because the nature and traits of the characters are so well-developed, theres little for the reader to question. As I saw the events unfold I thought, Yep, thats exactly how Dani would react. Components like this make even the conflict a gratifying reading experience.

For someone who’s very familiar w those words in her romances, this one actually got me blushing and shoOk yallll😳 i guess i just didn’t expect such carnal words to be used in here lol. Especially from our soft boi, Zaf. I also really enjoyed the strong family bonds and friendships throughout the book! The love between them was so clear to see. I loved the piss taking between Zaf and his best friend Jamal. They weren’t afraid to call one another out, which is quite similar to Dani and Zaf actually! Dani’s family also make an appearance and their love for each other was a lovely addition.

I loved the way this book challenged social gender construct, looked at how living with anxiety can affect your life, dismantling the misconceptions surrounding romance novels and explored vulnerability that was masked. I loved both of the families, Dani and her sisters, Chloe and Eve, plus Gigi, and Zaf with his mum, Kiran and Fluffy! They were all so supportive of each other! I just want to hang out with all of them!
