About this deal

Acquired in a hotly-contested 11-way auction, Nathan Filer’s unflinchingly honest debut draws on his experience as a mental health nurse, which makes for genuinely thought-provoking and sometimes unsettling reading. This book left me speechless. It was so honest and gave a very real insight to both death and mental illness. The first thing that came to my mind when I started reading this book was that it somehow reminded me of The Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger. I'm not sure why. I should say that I am not a nice person. Sometimes I try to be, but often I'm not. So when it was my turn to cover my eyes and count to a hundred -- I cheated. It contains an easy-to-inject needle with a dose of hormone called epinephrine. You can use it to treat anaphylaxis.

The Guardian . Retrieved 22 April 2019. Apply first aid to any visible wounds. If you suspect the person is experiencing an allergic reaction, ask them if they have an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen). People with severe allergies often carry this device. The novel was praised by The Guardian as "a gripping and exhilarating read", the narrator's voice being "dazzlingly rendered". [5] British Journal of Psychiatry noted that readers who are psychiatrists hoping to find themselves portrayed within the work would be disappointed, as they are "mentioned less than a handful of times throughout". However, they praise Filer's "very talented storytelling" and "fine description of psychiatry". [8] As far as how it really is in mental institutions, how the staff really are, there were no revelations. It was exactly like in tv show. Most of the patients have little to do, just medication to take, are herded from the tv room to therapy to crafts, and all of them chain-smoking. A few of the patients' behaviour is so peculiar that most of the other patients who are "ill" think that they are crazy.

Anyone can have a fall, but older people are more vulnerable and likely to fall, especially if they have a long-term health condition. Poi, andando avanti, ho capito che questo straordinario romanzo di Nathan Filer, diceva molto, molto di più.It's essentially the story of a young man's descent into mental illness, from childhood events to trying to live as an independent adult and on to life in a mental health care facility. a b Jones, Thomas (20 February 2014). "This is not a ghost story". London Review of Books. 36 (4): 33.

Bath Spa University Lecturer Nathan Filer recognised at the Specsavers National Book Awards 2014". Bath Chronicle. 28 November 2014 . Retrieved 30 November 2014. Osim toga, roman je prožet i odličnim humorom (poprilično crnim), čak i pored toga što se bavi ozbiljnim problemima - opakom bolešću uma, detetom sa daunovim sindromom,...The novel was first published in the UK on 9 May 2013, by HarperCollins Publishers. It was originally published in the United States by St. Martin's Press under the title Where the Moon Isn't. [1] I am so fascinated by books that depict mental illnesses. Books such as The Bell Jar, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine and Countless just to name a few, have really touched me. The focus on the frailty of the human mind is something that resonates really strongly with me, and telling these stories is vital. Certainly for me, they remind me that none of us are alone in our suffering. A compelling story of grief, madness and loss. Filer has an ear for the dark comedy of life, and Matthew is a charismatic lead character who draws you in even as his world falls apart’
