His next album with KMFDM entitled, Adios was released in 1999 and saw Skold taking on a bigger role in the band not just as vocalist, writer and bassist, but also as producer, engineer and programmer alongside Konietzko. Founded by Sascha Konietzko and Skold, they went on to release just one album simply titled MDFMK released in 2000 on Universal Records. The band, with Lucia Cifarelli, took on a more futuristic sound, which also contained hints of trance and europop, primarily in the style of production, leaning towards, what is now commonly referred to as 'electronica'.

In a November 2001 post by Manson on MarilynManson.com's message board, Manson stated that the band's fifth studio album would be "very much guitar driven" and heavy, in spite of previous claims that it would be beat-oriented. He also revealed that he had been working on a song with Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, and that he was collaborating with Tim Skold, who at this time was not a member of the band. [2] The cover and the artwork inside the album sleeve was created by Helnwein, and this artwork was also shown in his exhibitions. Limited edition units included a DVD titled Doppelherz (Double-heart), a surrealist short film directed by Manson. [4] Themes [ edit ]

GINGER FISH as the live drummer and primal meter interpreter. Leader of all rhythm devisions of marching and big band korps. PopMatters argued that while the album has several excellent songs, it is hindered by "inane" lyrics. [83] BBC Music also criticized its lyrics, [90] while Chris Long of BBC Manchester argued that while Manson was capable of producing "the finest metal around", The Golden Age of Grotesque demonstrated him "losing his touch". [91] Barry Walters of Rolling Stone called the album uneven: praising its first half but criticizing the latter portion. [85] A writer for Now Toronto claimed that Manson was lapsing into self-parody, and complained the album was not heavy enough. [92] Although E! Online praised the band for being inventive, they said the album would not win over any new fans. [79] This sentiment was echoed by Entertainment Weekly, who called it "inventive and powerful enough to merit intermittent attention, but ultimately crushed by the weight of its hoary pretensions."
