There clearly appears to have been an attempt to communicate with the extraterrestrials saying X marks the spot.” The book argues that an extraterrestrial craft was flying over the New Mexico desert to observe nuclear weapons activity when a lightning strike killed the alien crew and, that after discovering the crash, the US government engaged in a cover-up. In February 2020, an Air Force historian revealed a recently declassified report of a circa-1951 incident in which two Roswell personnel donned poorly fitting radioactive suits, complete with oxygen masks, while retrieving a weather balloon after an atomic test. On one occasion, they encountered a lone woman in the desert, who fainted when she saw them. The personnel could have appeared, to someone unaccustomed to then-modern gear, to be alien. I'm not an insider so I wouldn't know either way, but I have yet to hear or read anything that would completely discredit every part of the book for me (I don't have the same standards as others obviously). This field is tough because a lot of the real stuff IMO is shrouded in crap, so you can either rule out anything that has parts that aren't credible (99.99999% of everything) or you can use your own discretion and try and read between the lines and form your opinion on whats likely going on. I would argue that to a much lesser extent, this is something we all do every day when listening to politicians as well. Carr, Timothy (July 1997). Vol.14. pp.135–140.The only thing "extraterrestrial" in Philip Corso's book The Day After Roswell, is the height of his tall tales, certainly the tallest Roswell tales to date. His thesis of course (for those of you blessed with not hearing this rubbish before) is that many of our high-tech advances such as microcircuits (and the transistor before IC's), lasers, fiber optics, microwave ovens, Star Wars SDI weapons, etc., all actually came from "reverse engineering" the alien technology found in the crashed UFO near Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947 -- a feat largely made possible by Corso himself when he purportedly divvied up the alien goodies while working at Army R&D in the early 60's. But in his haste to cash in on Roswellmania he has made some fantastic blunders of history that completely expose him as a fraud in the most embarrassing way. When asked during a 2015 interview with GQ magazine about whether he had looked at top-secret classified information, Obama replied, "I gotta tell you, it's a little disappointing. People always ask me about Roswell and the aliens and UFOs, and it turns out the stuff going on that's top secret isn't nearly as exciting as you expect. In this day and age, it's not as top secret as you'd think." [187] Corso story is a flawed story, no matter how you look at it. It is a unknown and probably will remain a unknown till some type of opening up on this subject by the goverment happens. That is of course if the goverment has a real grasp on this subject in the first place? . One (now dead) was a surgical nurse at the alien's autopsy. Another was a high-ranking Air Force officer. Two others were aeronautical engineers who described the UFO's structure and systems. The final witness was an Air Force enlisted man who had been a guard." citing Stringfield (Sept 1979) Retrievals of the Third Kind, part 2
