About this deal

Players who simply wish to collect and paint the exceptional models that Games Workshop produce would do well to invest in a set like this if only for the sheer value for money. Likewise, anyone who is serious about setting themselves up with one or more armies in the world of Middle Earth Strategy Battle s will also feel that the best value can be found with Pelennor Fields . Personally, I think it’s also an excellent one versus one boxed game that doesn’t necessarily required expansion, having already far more in the box than the likes of Rune Wars or Star Wars: Legion . The Lord of the Rings™ Battle of Osgiliath is the first starter box for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game since the Battle of Pelennor Fields set released in 2018. This epic boxed game includes two complete armies representing the forces of Good and Evil as they do battle for the besieged city of Osgiliath. Warriors of Rohan: foot-soldiers who make up the rank and file of the armies of Rohan. 4 models are armed with bows, 4 with hand weapons and shields, and 4 with spears and shields; There are probably a few ways to look at whether Pelennor Fields is a product that will appeal to you. Firstly, as a pure value proposition, the eighty-four miniatures include The Witch King of Angmar (in two poses) on a Fell Beast, as well as Theoden, both on his horse and on foot. There are twelve mounted Riders of Rohan and twelve on foot, as well as twenty Warriors of the Dead. Fighting in support of The Witch King, you’ll find a Mordor troll (with several poses possible) and thirty-six Morannon orcs, split half and half with swords and spears. One of the great heroes of Middle-earth, Elrond is getting not one but two new models, both mounted and on foot, in the intricate and ornate armour he wore during the War of the Last Alliance. As a great Elven Hero, he is accompanied by a loyal High Elf bannerman bearing the banner of Gil-galad.

The promo scene cards aren’t intended for use at prerelease. They’re for building excitement for the new set. They won’t be allowed in Sealed prerelease events. Are Scene Cards on MTGA? Aragon at Helm’s Deep will released in November in a special scene box. All six scene cards are included with a paper easel to display them.In this box set, you’ll find all the miniatures (no less than 84!) and rules you and an opponent will need to defend the city of Minas Tirith – or take command of the forces of Evil and wage destruction and war upon the kingdom of Gondor. Included: The box comes with two forces: The Forces of Good, and The Forces of Evil. The Forces of Good are made up of the Riders of Rohan and the Warriors of the Dead, and The Forces of Evil are made up of the forces of Mordor. The Forces of Good make good allies for the Battle of Pelennor Fields, however, it is worth noting the are better looked at as two smaller armies that can be made into one bigger army. If you wanted to do either army as their own force you would need to at least double that sides model count. The Forces of Evil, Mordor, however, is (almost) a true full army. If you wanted to play the game you'll need to add a few character models. With that said for a starter box this is an excellent assortment of models. I'm not aware of many starter boxes that have an almost complete army to the "standard" points value for a game.

In total, including the four characters, is a staggering 84 miniatures and a great start to any good or evil force.

The Miniatures

The two books included with the Battle of Pelennor Fields Box are the Lord of the Rings Battle of Pelennor Fields Scenarios and Profiles book and the full Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Rules Manual. These two books include everything you need to play with the miniatures in the box and the rules for all games beyond them. If you wish to add more miniatures to your armies though, the profiles for all of the other available miniatures are going to be published in two army books, the Armies of the Lord of the Rings and the Armies of the Hobbit. Both of those books will include army lists from forces used in the movies, as well as profiles for all the miniatures from those films and narrative play scenarios. Sauron Defeated, the fourth volume of The History of The Lord of the Rings, contains superseded versions of the battle. Some changes of detail are apparent: e.g. Théoden slain by a projectile to the heart instead of being crushed by his horse; or when Éowyn reveals her sex, her hair has been cut short, a detail absent from the final version. J.R.R. Tolkien had also considered having Éowyn die.
