About this deal

The exact distance or direction from the Pride Lands to the Elephant Graveyard is not explicitly mentioned. Ever since I found that area of India dangling between Myanmar and Bangladesh I’ve been interested in the rogue Indian state of Assam. My intregue piqued when I learned of the WWII battles in Assam with Allied missions fighting over control of “the hump” of Himalayas between China and Darjeerling. Travel by Westerners as long been banned until the separatist insurgents are controlled. The graveyard has two "districts": the graveyard district where most of the bones of dead elephants lie with only a few boilers, which is where Simba and Nala visit; and the geyser district, which has geysers, boilers, and suffers from earth tremors and explosions of lava. This is where the song " Be Prepared" is performed. One day he encounters a free spirited drifter Jody (Billy Connolly.) He also pretends to be at work. Both men bond, talke, drink wine and have a boisterous time where they try to out dare each other. Atleast for me, it’s in the vein of Jim Corbett’s ‘man-eating tigers of Kumaon’, a book I loved growing up. I can’t seem to decide if it’s a good thing that tarquin’s doesn’t have those excruciatingly tedious Victorian-era descriptions Corbett included, of literally everything around him. it did add to the tension, but then again, ain’t nobody got time for that. Do Elephants Go To An Elephant Graveyard To Die?

Resource Availability: Some elephant graveyards may form in regions with specific resources that are beneficial to aging elephants. These resources could include softer vegetation, water sources, or mineral-rich soils, which can help alleviate physical ailments associated with old age. Elephants may be drawn to these areas for their medicinal benefits.

An elephants' graveyard (also written elephant graveyard, elephant's graveyard, or elephants' cemetery) is a place where, according to legend, old elephants instinctively direct themselves when they reach a certain age. [1] According to this legend, these elephants would then die there alone, far from the group. However, there is no evidence in support of the existence of the elephants' graveyard. [2] Origin [ edit ] Instinctual Behavior: Older elephants, driven by instinct, may separate themselves from the herd and seek out a secluded area. This behavior is believed to be an adaptation to protect the group from predators and conserve resources for the younger, healthier members. These areas can be referred to as elephant graveyards due to the concentration of older elephants found there. The sad truth is, many people in Africa want to believe in elephant graveyards because finding such a place would be like stumbling across El Dorado. Ivory still has such incredible value despite conservation efforts to end the ivory trade. That romantic, treasure-hunter outlook helps the legend persist. Disney's 1994 animated musical film The Lion King has a reference to this motif, as well as its musical adaptation and the 2019 remake of the film. In " Fearful Symmetry", an episode from The X-Files which revolves around a mysterious invisible elephant, a character refers to this. [ citation needed] The tales of the curse vary; some say it causes sudden blindness, and others say individuals will simply never escape crater. But all agree – the same greed that drives poachers spells doom for graveyard visitors.Social bonds: Elephants are highly social animals that live in complex family groups. They form strong bonds with their relatives and show signs of mourning when a member of their group dies. However, this does not imply that they have knowledge of a specific graveyard or purposefully go to such a place. The idea of elephants having graveyards is a myth, but their behavior towards the remains of other elephants is intriguing and shows their unique understanding and connection to death within their social groups. However, it is important to note that elephants do exhibit a remarkable ability to remember their dead. They show signs of mourning, such as gathering around the body of a deceased elephant and displaying behaviors like gentle touching and vocalizing. This suggests that elephants have a deep emotional connection to their deceased companions and remember them even after they have passed away.
