This joyful celebration of spring is for everyone who’s felt like the end of winter might never come. You won’t be able to resist smiling as you read the playful commands to enjoy the gradually lengthening days and nicer weather. This would be perfect to inspire student artwork or a spring bulletin board, too! 13. Spectacular Spring: All Kinds of Spring Facts and Fun by Bruce Goldstone (PreK–2) After the cold of Winter, comes the warmth of Spring. “I Am Spring” takes young children on a journey through the many important events that occur uniquely in the beautiful growing season of Spring. When the day becomes longer than the night, and the leaves begin to sprout on the bare branches, and bugs and animals that were hiding start to reappear, get ready, because that means Spring is here! This iconic pair is lovable in any season, but the vignette “Spring,” in which Frog joyously wakes a hibernating Toad so they can resume their fun together, is particularly heartwarming. 11. Busy Spring: Nature Wakes Up by Sean Taylor and Alex Morss (PreK-2) Eric Carle is still one of my favourite illustrators and children’s authors. The Tiny Seed is a fantastic book to read with your kids as you teach your kids about the life cycle and how they bloom every spring with this fun interactive book.

Engage children with digital learning

You could lay out the words in the middle of a table and children have to identify from the pictures what spring words they can identify from a book read that day or week, then encourage reading or sounding them out. Julia Rawlinson the author behind the Fletcher books and many more has created a beautiful springtime book Fletcher and the Springtime Blossom (we love her autumn book too) where Fletcher discovers the joy of spring, but then white “snowflakes” fall around him and he announces to all his woodland friends that winter has returned. This is a great preschool book that introduces the magic of spring Busy Spring

Co-authors Sean Taylor (picture book author) and Alex Morss (ecologist, journalist, and educator) offer an inviting introduction to the science behind spring. The yard is bright, birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, and there are tadpoles in the pond! What is all the commotion about? Create a new issue describing your problem, ideally with a link to a public repo where we can reproduce the issue.
