There’s no doubt that the Shark IZ251UKT is an attractive vacuum. We like the burgundy colour scheme, which looks great combined with the dark grey joints. It also feels well-built and durable, which is important for a premium vacuum. A bonus is that the IZ251UKT’s floorhead has Shark’s anti hair-wrap technology. This consists of several combs that prevent hair from becoming caught round the brush bar, so you don’t need to cut hair away from the roller. We don’t think it’s 100% effective, but it does a good job at forcing hair into the bin, especially if your vacuum has to deal with long hair. The Shark also doesn’t provide the best edge cleaning performance we’ve seen, so you might have to follow up with the crevice tool to clean along skirting boards. The IZ251UKT is the TruePet version of this vacuum cleaner range, meaning that it comes with a motorised pet tool. Aside from being excellent for cleaning hair on stairs, upholstery, and car seats, the pet tool has the same anti hair-wrap technology as the DuoClean floorhead. Again, the IZ201UKT is a similar vacuum, but with different included accessories. While the mini motorised tool is included in this model, you don’t get a second battery. This halves the effective run-time, although the IZ201UKT is a cheaper option. The Shark DuoClean IZ201UKT is a dry vacuum cleaner designed for cleaning bare and hard floors. Equipped with a filtration system, it effectively traps dust and allergens, making it suitable for people with allergies. The vacuum utilizes a cyclonic/filtering dirt separating method, eliminating the need for bags and allowing for easy disposal of collected dirt. With a dirt capacity of 0.4 liters, it requires regular emptying during use. Enjoy an amazing run-time of up to 40 minutes* per charge. The removable battery can be charged on or off the vacuum, wherever suits you. *In ION power mode, with non-motorised tool. Another inconvenience of the Shark Anti Hair Wrap IZ201UKT is that it does not have an LCD display. It indicates the battery life with three bars. The LCD display of the Tineco PURE ONE S12, shows the battery life in percentage, making it more accurate and convenient. The Shark Anti Hair Wrap IZ201UKT has an average price, but offers above-average results. It comes with an anti-hair tangle feature, has a flexible tube, is equipped with headlights and has a main floor nozzle that is suitable for both hard floors and carpets.

However, the battery life isn’t anything particularly out of the ordinary. Shark quotes it at 40 minutes, although this is without the motorised floor head attached. In our tests, we found it lasted 22mins 34secs when tested on carpet with the motorised head attached, falling to 16mins 10secs in Boost mode. We really like the IZ251UKT, as it combines many of the best features of Shark uprights with the convenience of a cordless vacuum. It also does an excellent job of cleaning hard floors and has a longer run-time than most competing models. The Shark IZ251UK is very similar to the IZ251UKT, but doesn’t include the TruePet motorised tool. All of the other features are the same, including the dual battery design and anti hair-wrap technology.

The Shark doesn’t come with an LCD screen to show remaining battery time, such as the Dyson V11 Absolute. This isn’t an essential feature, but it’s great to be able to see the remaining charge on the Dyson V11, especially as it updates depending on which mode or tool you’re using. Relying on three LED lights on the Shark means you’re always wondering how much battery you’ve really got left. Unlike Dyson cordless vacuums, we like that the Shark IZ251UKT has a simple on/off toggle rather than a trigger system. If you hate the idea of needing to hold down a trigger to keep the vacuum running, then Shark’s system will be a welcome relief.Using the motorised pet tool while in handheld mode makes cleaning stairs much more convenient than a corded vacuum. We also like how easy the wand makes it to clean higher locations, such as ceilings and light fittings. If manoeuvrability is key for you, the Eufy HomeVac S11 Infinityand Dyson Micro 1.5kgare both much easier to handle.

With that said, we don’t think it can match the Dyson V11 Absolute when it comes to cleaning carpets. It’s better than most cordless vacuums, but fails to meet the high standards set by the very best models. It’s worth noting that the Shark is considerably cheaper than the Dyson V11 series though.

There’s also the option of folding the vacuum for storage, which is useful if you want to keep the Shark in a small cupboard. When folded, the vacuum is approximately 70cm tall.
